Rumor: Pagnotta: "Rasmus Andersson is open to a trade, he would welcome it" It would cost 3 assets...1st rnd pick, prospect, +

Better as in team or as in location.
I never understood players having a location issue with WPG.
During the season, they play so often they’re not doing much but playing, practicing, and working out.
During the offseason, they’ve been paid enough that they should be able to go anywhere they want without it being an issue.
They have families that also have to stay here.

...winning a Cup tends to ease the "hate"...put him with Nurse and Edm finally has a really nice Top 4 D ready for the playoffs...
What kind of person would want someone that doesnt want to play for your franchise? sure go ahead bring someone that hates you, your players and your franchsie and see what happens:laugh:

...he "hates" the rivalry cuz he has to...betcha if he does go to EDM he'll end up "hating" the Flames the same way...

There’s nothing in Edmonton’s system that would make the Flames want to trade Andersson there

1+ are rentals

UFAs to be in summer can discuss contract before trade. They csnt now.
A team acquiring him could talk extension with him but they just couldn’t sign it until the summer. Can’t tamper with your own players

That doesn't make any sense.
I think they just thought Andersson was an UFA this year and are doubling down

He is in rental price range now. That’s…

Playoff team 1st ( expected 20-33 top 10 protected) + a not top 5 prospect ( likely a 2nd round pick)+ current contract to balance out some salary
If the team player is better then the 1st becomes a condition 2nd and the prospect is lower.
lol no. Calgary would just keep him until next trade deadline.

Are we going to lie to ourselves now and claim Kevin Bahl was "quality over quantity"?

Are we also going to claim that about Miromanov in regards to the Hanifin trade?

Nope, but Bahl is someone they targeted and has been exceptional in Calgary.

The trades they did last year in season are irrelevant. As I mentioned. That’s what’s given Calgary 6 picks in the first round over three years and hence us not needing more 20some overalls and a bunch of nobody prospects. Sorry big dog.

Unfortunately, again, sellers simply don't have the leverage to demand top level assets from buyers.

You may not need 1sts and lower tier prospects, but that is the currency that teams actually use.

Unless the top prospects/RFA controlled kids request trades or refuse to sign, they don't get moved.

Every time a big name player is floated as being available/wanting out, the same thing happens where the fanbase says "we won't move him for a collection of smaller pieces" right up until they do. And then they go back and pretend that wasn't the case.

Even right now, as it is being point blank reported that calgary is asking for the standard 1st+prospect+extra whatever, you are STILL convinced that it won't happen.

Hanifin put Conroy in a tough spot and essentially picked his destination due to his NTC and control over contract negotiations with all interested teams as a pending UFA.

Andersson only has a 6 team NTC and another full year remaining.

Much different situation.
Hanifin only had a 8 team NTC why are we pretending like a 6 team NTC and an 8 team NTC are meaningfully different

You don't think a 1st the season after we could potentially lose Mcdavid is enticing? If I'm a GM staring down a rebuild, that pick is more valuable than any other contending teams 1st. Yeah it could be just a late 1st in a couple years, it also has potential to be top 3 if we lose Davo and the team can't adjust to losing the greatest player of this generation.

Matt Savoie has shown as well or better than some of the other names in his draft class, that you yourself said you would want.

Akey is a good prospect, though I think you guys have RHD prospects so maybe not the best fit. O'Reilly has shown very well though.

That's just the top end. It's not like a 1st before 27 is any less valuable than Winnipegs. We don't have a deep prospect pool, but we definitely have the pieces for 1 homerun type of move.

Nope. Andersson is exactly what Edmonton needs and I doubt the Flames would gamble that the pick being high because McDavid leaves.
Savoie isn’t that enticing and the Flames don’t need another D prospect.

More teams will be in on Andersson given his term. Hanifin had two teams would sign with.

Stop trying to price "with extension" into pending UFAs like they meaningfully increase values and you won't have this problem.

You can't just say someone isn't enticing without any reasoning. You said Lambert was, and he was drafted later and shown worse than Savoie thus far. How is Savoie a worse prospect than Lambert or Lekkerimaki? A couple inches in height? Because when it comes to stats he is above both in the AHL this year.

I think a gm would rather a pick that has a shot at being a lottery one, rather than something like Winnipegs 1st which is pretty much guaranteed to be a late 1st.

You want the flames to be worse off just to spite edmonton. Peak little brother energy lmao

I’m not. There is a material difference between having a player for one and a half years versus one playoff run. More teams will be interested. Learn what a pending UFA is if you want to be snarky.

The Flames have enough small wingers in their system and I don’t think Savoie is a centre in the NHL.
I think it is way more likely McDavid re-signs if the Oilers go on another deep run and Andersson helps with that.

Hanifin was a pending UFA.

Flames fans were convinced a magical extension would jack up his cost

I told flames fans that "with extension" on pending ufas isn't a real tool to increase value, and that he'd fetch the standard rental price as always.

and well, you know what happened next when he got traded (without an extension in place).

Yeah, no kidding. That isn’t a secret. I was responding to your comment about why Hanifin’s NTC was more limiting then Andersson’s. Hanifin had two teams he was willing to sign with and was able to block other sure fire playoff teams.

If the Flames wait to trade Andersson until the next deadline they will get a similar return.
