Also to add that when Bowness did take over that year, our play and record in the games pre and post monty was very very different. The Bowness timeline between Monty's dismissal and the covid break was an impressive downward spiral

Yup.

Pretty sure they entered the bubble on a seven game losing streak - and only managed a "top 4" seeding due to points percentage.

AND they only salvaged one win in that round-robin tourney, in the last game, against an equally inert Blues team.

In a shootout, IIRC.

Outside of their run to the finals - which needed a TON of help from an injury-ravaged Avs team - it's been a largely underwhelming performance by the Stars under Rick Bowness.

They're surging again lately though, so who knows if another playoff appearance merits a new contract, in the eyes of Jim Nill. :dunno:

So it was revealed fairly early on (from Klingberg himself) that he never actually "requested a trade"....at least not yet, anyway.

Pagnotta was off on this one.

Don't think I've heard any progress on contract talks though, or if they'll ever re-open for that matter.

No clue how this'll shake out, but I really hope it doesn't end with Klingberg signing elsewhere in the summer and the Stars being left with absolutely nothing to show for it.
