Hope he's this season's Stempniak.
...That's not possible. Parenteau put up 40 points last season with the Islanders.

Before the Devils signed Stempniak, he had three straight seasons with less than 20 points.

It's a good claim by NJ, especially with all the cap they have and the desperate need for offense. But he won't be "this season's Stempniak".

I think he means he hopes he'll fill what Stempniak's role was last year for the Devils, and I think he can absolutely do that.

That's incorrect, in fact he's never had a single season with less than 20 points.

You read his stats incorrectly.

2012-13 CGY - 32 points
2013-14 CGY/PIT - 34 points
2014-15 NYR/WPG - 28 points

I guess you're right, I wasn't looking at how many times this guy has been traded.

Stempniak was always producing before last year, but was getting tossed around so much that he never settled in (or given a chance) at a scoring role on a consistent basis.

If you ask every the fans on here of every team that had him in the last couple years, they all loved his game and wanted their team to keep him. Rangers, Jets, Devils, and Bruins I can personally account for. Not too sure about Flames/Penguins the year before.

eh i rather our rookies get playing time

What RW rookies do the Devils have?? Speers is way too raw and young to start on the big club. Lappin could use some more AHL experience as well before he makes the jump. Parenteau is a legit RW vet that the Devils needed to slot in the top 9.

PA got a lot of ice time last year, which was with the leafs, not the Islanders.

The second part is not even true. I think you're looking at 1 team Lee played for the last 3 years, instead of both teams for the last 3 years. This is a guy who has been traded in his last 3 years.

EDIT: Ignore.

Glad to hear PA got on with a local team. His family just re-settled on LI. Kind of a dick move by Garth but this is a business.

Hope he does well for you guys!

Not even gonna read the rest of the pages, but I think this is a great pickup for NJ. PA can score points if given the minutes and this is a place where he can fit into a top 6 with Henrique and Hall or Zajac and Cammalleri depending on where Hynes wants to plug him in. Blandisi probably dove himself off the roster, besides having a **** preseason. Now they can run Zacha on a 3rd line withe Bennett and Boucher giving them potential for some offensive pop there too. Good deal for NJ. Now they just have to work on getting their defense in order.

Blandisi actually had a good preseason. Worked on his skating, had a better defensive game and was one of the better Devils at puck possession. He is a LW/C so the competition is high. He will be an early call up when injuries occur. But yeah thanks for your input...

David Schlemko
Lee Stempniak
David Warsofsky
Brian O'Neill
Bobby Farnham
Jiri Tlusty

Edit: I should also I add, I have no problem with it at all. In fact, I think it is great. Free assets for my favorite team is fine by me.

and we have also acquired guys like Hall, Palmieri etc

the notion that the Devils just pick up whatever garbage is available is not true whatsoever

I liked him as a Penguins fan
