Ted Dent is available.Problem is all the best HC's are working. Hard to find someone other than maybe somebody retired?
Probably still will be after OS hires.Ted Dent is available.
Wouldn't be surprised if there were some more intriguing names out there with interest in the position other than the current list of re-treads. This is supposed to be a good team taking a run at a championship which is different from taking over a team in the middle of a reset or rebuild and starting from scratch. There's a lot of nice pieces on the roster and opportunity to get your name out there if you have pro aspirations.Problem is all the best HC's are working. I think so too but doesn't hurt to go through the process to see what's out there. Wouldn't at all be shocked if there was a surprise or two who applied for the HC position that would have to be looked at. Different scenario from when most coaching positions come available so you never know who might be interested.Thinking the Assistant Coachs resume more than qualifies him to be the new HC
So too , is Mike Babcock and Kevin ConstantineTed Dent is available.
I think the head coach has already arrived in Owen Sound .Wouldn't be surprised if there were some more intriguing names out there with interest in the position other than the current list of re-treads. Agree, with the way that the season ended last year, you have to think DeGray brought in Rumble just incase this happened. And from Rumble's side, he probably accepted knowing this may be a possibility.Thinking the Assistant Coachs resume more than qualifies him to be the new HC
That was my thought as well but it seems from the comments Degray made in the article there will likely be an application and interview process. I'm not 100% sure that's strictly for an Assistant Coach though. Otherwise why not just name Rumble as HC? I think the door was intentionally left open.So too , is Mike Babcock and Kevin Constantine

I agree that's the likely outcome but they didn't immediately name Rumble as the HC. I think DeGray has left his options open which is smart. Rumble is definitely the obvious guy and unquestionably has the resume. It certainly felt like Rumble was going to be the next man up when he was hired.Agree, with the way that the season ended last year, you have to think DeGray brought in Rumble just incase this happened. Any addition to the staff I would think would be as an assistant.
Don’t know but wouldn’t be surprised to see Caputi by the end of the week too
What is with the early coaching dismissals this season in the O??
I would guess, since this happened rather suddenly, there needs to be a cooling off period before everything is settled.I agree that's the likely outcome but they didn't immediately name Rumble as the HC. I'm not so sure it's all that sudden really. It seems like DeGray had been contemplating this move for awhile dating back to the offseason. I think it just seems sudden to us because it's 7 games in and the team's record is 4-2-0-1. I have to imagine there was some sort of talking to last week that triggered Walters running the team the way he did Friday and Saturday. Seems like Walters was treating them like a playoff game either to prolong his stay in Owen Sound or audition for another gig and forced Dale's hand with some form of defiance.I would guess, since this happened rather suddenly, there needs to be a cooling off period before everything is settled.
I'd be shocked if Rumble is not named the permanent head coach in short order . With a new long term deal in hand .
You can read the article below with commentary from the GM to offer some context. This was something that's been coming for some time now.Kitchener fan coming in peace.
What happened to get the coach fired? You guys are 4-2-1 and always beat the Rangers. From an outsiders perspective it looked like everything was great in Owen Sound.
That's pretty typical for an in season coaching change. They needed to designate somebody as the shot caller before the next game anyways. Still allows them to move ahead with the interview and hiring process with their options open. Most likely the interim tag is removed when the coaching staff is fleshed out with the third member behind the bench.Rumble is "interim" head coach. Doesn't look like a vote of confidence
Geez…you were bang on with that statementJust my own opinion but it seems the coach is managing the team like his job is on the line based on the line juggling and how they deployed their D last night.
How it 'looks' isn't important to anyone outside the organization.Rumble is "interim" head coach. Doesn't look like a vote of confidence
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile lol.Geez…you were bang on with that statement
Do you disagree? It just doesn't seem like you guys are confident. My opinion, no inside info. Seems to me he is qualified, so why tag him interim? How it 'looks' isn't important to anyone outside the organization.
Do you have more inside information you'd like to share ?
Us Guys ?Do you disagree? It just doesn't seem like you guys are confident. My opinion, no inside info. Seems to me he is qualified, so why tag him interim?
Why not be the interim, what if someone comes to Degray with a better resume? Whats the pressure to make him the head coach.Do you disagree? It just doesn't seem like you guys are confident. My opinion, no inside info. Seems to me he is qualified, so why tag him interim?
That's 100% correct, yes. Pretty normal for in season coaching changes to be of the interim variety. It allows the team the opportunity to do due diligence for exploring what or who is available and suited for what role. I would imagine with this happening so early in the season the interim tag will come off prior to the end of the season. Why not be the interim, what if someone comes to Degray with a better resume? Whats the pressure to make him the head coach.
They did the same thing under Alan Letang when they let Todd Gill go, Letang was named interim and then announced head coach over the summer.
Come to think of it, im pretty sure NHL teams do the same thing?
