Pretty complete game tonight from the Attack. Still a fair bit of work to do but that's a start. If that's the version of Smith we're going to get I don't understand the hesitation to play him. Thought he had a solid game and took care of business in his own end. I think Ethier played a shift in the first period and then never saw him again.

I don't think the line combos are quite there yet but I thought the Burroughs - Goure - Nansi line was really good. Didn't love the Crawford - Guindon - Barlow line when I saw it pregame but Crawford played a nice game tonight and did a nice job on the forecheck and got a few scoring chances. Bottom six is pretty hit and miss right now.

George was solid in net. Don't think he had too many grade A chances against but did an excellent job controlling rebounds and controlling the puck to not give up second chance opportunities. Couple firsts tonight with George getting his first OHL shutout and Rogers picking up his first OHL goal. Hopefully something positive to build off of heading into next weekend's 3 in 3 stretch.

7 games into the season and we've had what is really a small sample size of what we have to look forward to this year.

There's certainly a lot more work to be done moving forward to fine tune things and it's early on but if this is what this team can do and continue to build off we could be in for a real entertaining rest of the season. Tonight was a game where the guys took the most of their opportunities and tightened up in the defensive side of the puck. Let's hope this is something that can get the momentum ball to start rolling in next week's games versus the Rangers, Bulldogs and Fronts. But definitely a lot of positives early on.

Carter George is #1. No doubt.
I don't doubt he will be I will however play Devils Advocate. It may be a little early to say #1 yet did Carter play because he is #1 or was Wally giving the kid a start in as close to home as he will get. Also keep in mind his mom comes from a well known Soo family and there were alot of them in the building? I'm not saying Carter isn't the guy but sometimes the obvious isn't always what we see. Now that he put up a 0 on the board it definitely puts the pressure on in the competition for the net.

Bit of a shocker but James Petrovski got 5 games for whatever earned him the Game Misconduct last night. Assuming Steen is still out then Smith and Ethier are in. Question becomes do they actually play them or just try to roll the top 4? Can't imagine they try and get away with not playing Smith and Ethier on the back end of a back to back on the road but I didn't expect to see Smith glued to the bench last night either. Likely going to be a bit of trial by fire.

Not a clue. Have to assume it was something to do with the game misconduct penalty in the third period Friday night. Typically suspensions are applied if there was some sort of inappropriate language or gesture used that is against league code of conduct policies. The vagueness of the suspension announcement doesn't offer any real idea as to what actually happened.

Looks like George is taking over the net.. good choice for me.. he gives us a chance every game

No competition.. George is number 1

I like the way the Attack play. Wondering what are the expectations this year.
Deep playoff run if they play to there potential

My guess is it something that there were comments made. This happened a few years ago and the league didn't disclose the reason for the suspension

I 100% agree with your first statement Carter is taking over the net. My guess is they may not actually name him #1 though and Corbin will get opportunity to take it back. It probably benefits the team to have 2 guys pushing each other to be better. Having said that Carter is the guy setting the bar right now and it's Corbins challenge to at least match where the bar is set. I don't mean to sound like I'm favoring either one I like both and am fine with either one being the go to guy.

Im not sure who mentioned it but there is no doubt that the schedule eases up after Friday with Kingston and Brantford in town followed by Oshawa and Flint the following week. I could think Corbin would get 2 of those to help get him going. No doubt that Carter is and will be the #1 guy but as we witnessed last year, you need more then 1 guy going if you want to win games.

So far so good, could be 5-2-1 but overall the team is playing well. Waddick and Hookey to this point at the guys who probably need to get going, where its been nice to see guys like Cormier, Rogers and to an extent Jordan take steps. Thought Smith was very good vs the Soo, with Petrovski out for 4 more games it should be some time for him to get accumulated.

I shouldn't have posted that, sorry. I'll just wait
I'll go out on a limb and say it had to do with the coaching change that was just announced?

Walters is canned. Rumble and Teakle assuming the duties for the foreseeable future according to team release.

I think this one was expected to be honest. Maybe not this early on but I think many were surprised he was back this year after the way things ended last season.
yeah I get that. Doesn't make a lot of sense that he wasn't dismissed in the off season. I don't think anything has changed between then and now philosophically.

I think he was on a short leash. It sure looked like he was coaching for his job in the few games i've been able to watch. We are seeing the same here

The quote by DeGray is interesting, “Making a coaching change is always a hard decision, but ultimately, our vision for how we best maximize our current roster is not aligned and I feel it was best for the organization that we make a change."

So what is the the plan to "best maximize our current roster"? I'm curious what he specifically didn't like or wants to see them do differently.

Friday's game against Sudbury sticks out like a sore thumb to me. The line combos and D deployment didn't make any sense. The way they were managing games at this time of the season just reeked of desperation.

Will there be a dry eye in the house ?
Really curious if this had anything to do timing wise with the D deployment over the weekend? Would love to know who's decision it was to play or not play the rookies, whether it was Walter's call or Rumble as the D coach? To dress and sit Smith Friday and then dress and sit Ethier on Saturday didn't make any sense to me.

My best guess is coach Rumble will be apart of a list of candidates for the vacant Head Coaching role. If Rumble is the new HC they hire an assistant, otherwise an outside candidate comes in as HC and the assistants remain the same. I have to imagine there will be a lot of interest in the HC position.

Problem is all the best HC's are working. Hard to find someone other than maybe somebody retired?
