Zzzzzzzz Zzzzzzz...

Lets just hold onto all of our OA's and lose two more next year while keeping young kids on the bench and in the stands that will be here next year and beyond, hoping for the magical 30 wins. An argument earlier was that we need them to get experience in winning a play-off round. That's not happening folks. I actually think both 30 wins and making playoffs is questionable now with how the teams in our division have loaded up. Yes we are 4th right now. That's about to change quickly. So frustrating.
ill bet 1,000,000 that the attack make the playoffs. message me if interested

Lawrence might make an AHL team next year so you would have that potential of losing him for nothing is my only concern
Like I say I don't disagree but what I've been hearing from some connected hockey people is due to Kalebs lack of playing time theres a good chance L.A will want 1 more year of Jr out of him. I've heard a lot of positives toward Deni's new found defensive game and there are rumblings he could get a contract and play minor pro next year. So if you trade 25 and 29 and 7 signs somewhere now your using your assets to replace a quality OA. Thats why I always say theres a reason you and I are here speculating and the G.Ms of the league are paid big money to do what they do. We have it easy because we have no fall out on our pretend decisions. And I'm not slamming anyone here I make my own decisions in my mind all the time some good some not so much.

Some good points but I don't understand why people keep suggesting 7 could sign a minor pro contract. What are recent examples of players doing that prior to their overage year? I would think he would want to come back for his overage year and be one of the top scorers in the league, with hopes of signing an NHL contract and then play in minors.

Contract or not I think he would easily be returned for another season.

Definitely. But is it almost sounds like Keith and some others feel he may consider just leaving to play in East Coast League or elsewhere, not suggesting an NHL contract. They can correct me if I was reading that wrong.

I would really like to see DD make some moves before the deadline. I'm not expecting any blockbuster deals but moving pieces that wont be here next year to help improve us next year just makes sense,

We don't have the big pieces to sell nor the assets to add a big piece. I would think any moves made would be closer to the deadline when teams circle around to the next tier of assets after the big pieces come off the board.

In my opinion, typically you'd want someone like Lawrence with his size and skill set to dominate in the OHL before moving on. Give him a healthy/normal off season of training and his OA season to get his reps and have a big final year and if all goes well he turn pro at the end of the season.

I don't see much of a risk of Goure going pro next season. It's pretty rare to be drafted/signed at 19 and go pro with OA eligibility. I could see him get drafted and return for his final season. He's made big strides this season and should continue to thrive in Owen Sound with a coaching staff that is clearly getting results with him.

Unfortunately the deadline has become a time where teams fall under four categories.

1. Buyers and pay big
2. Sellers and ask big
3. Tweakers by moving a so so piece for another so so piece.
4. Go with what you already have.

Assuming our asset cupboard is accurate in the way of Draft Selections. We have made our moves back before the inflation price on players started to build up.

So I would think the management will go with what they already have. We've really made our 2 moves way back before the price tags started to appear in the trade talk department with Sawyer and Papais.

I'm sure if there was any deal to be made it was made long before the trade-deadline talks started. And even let's say there was still a deal that could be made it would be more shuffling an unhappy player(s) around for a change of scenery and less in the big splash department like some teams are doing now around the league.

But of course the 10th is still 6 days away and anything can happen in that time expectedly or unexpectedly.

The only scenario I see that might make sense is moving an 03 for an 04/05 type that could play this year and maybe be more of an impact next season. It would be tough to see them move out bodies strictly for picks and completely punt on the season. Whatever they decide to do I'm not expecting anything big. Like you suggested, likely a minor tweak if anything.

Andrew Shaw

Andrew Shaw
Yes But he was drafted by a NHL club and signed. I don't think that's what people were implying with regards to 7. Again I could be wrong but it seemed like they were implying he may just got to an ECHL team etc. to start making some money.

Just get those 30 wins so everyone is happy.. they should make moves to make themselves better for next season.. like trading Chenard and playing George and Votary. This team needs draft picks in a bad way also

Only other thing is finidng a trading partner that will give you fair value that needs/ wants an OA goalie who has been good but not great with a sub .900 save percentage this season (although .900 over his career) and a 3.37 Gaa this year.

Andrew Shaw was drafted as a 19 yr old after our championship year and singed a minor league deal. The same could possibly happen with 7. I know your going to say he's not Andrew Shaw and I'll agree all I'm saying is I would want to be pretty sure the 19 yr Olds I keep are going to be back. I would hate to move any and then have to spend assets to get an OA who may not be as good as one we moved this year. If Dale is pretty sure who's available next year and can make a move to make the team better next year I'm all for that even if it does hurt a bit this season.

The other question I would have is there anyone ready to step in as a warm body to play if needed. We don't have an excess of extra bodies hanging around.

This team isn’t winning anything if Chenard can’t find his game again. It frustrates me so much that a 16 year old was playing pretty decent and we keep riding an OA goalie who seems to have his confidence lost.

Shaw was not signed to an NHL contract, he signed an AHL contract and then signed an NHL contract (league minimum) the day he was called up.

if you hate it so much why watch? I don’t get that

Coach Hill - "When guys are not going GW will find guys who are."

Guys not going...

Coach GW = Groundhog Day

This team is folding like a cheap lawn chair. Where is Dale Degray!
Looking at the schedule with his calculator out trying to determine where the possible 13 wins will come from to make it to 30! Crossing off all remaining games vs Kitchener, London, Windsor, Barrie, Sarnia and Ottawa and realizing how close its going to be.
