What a f***ing bum. I swear those kids must evetually learn. Demidov is produccing while playing on a 3rd line. Mesar is producing while he's supposed to be a bust. Those kids need to learn their place and become good person.
I loved him yesterday and I just like his play with Laval in general this season. I feel like Beck's playmaking is getting better. Bummer for that Mesar injury though because I loved them together
I'd like it if he could get at least another 30-40 games with the Rocket to continue the work with good minutes, but I feel like Beck's getting called up soon with the way he's been playing and the fact he's a C (and the Habs' current play of course)
When he'll replace Dvorak, the Habs will gain so much speed. Still, I'm happy he's playing in the A instead of the NHL atm

Another 2 point game for Beck.
There has been a lot of back and forth in this thread about Beck's potential or lack thereof on the O side.
I'm very happy to see that he's managed to bring his consistency to Laval this early in his Pro Career.
One of his traits I remarked upon towards the end of last season in Saginaw was just how few games Beck went without scoring at least one point.
So while he's never gonna be a Logan Mailloux with 7 points in two games having the ability to constantly chip in is huge.

The best thing about his production is that it's almost all coming for his motor and hard work, stuff that should translate well at the next level. He's moving his feet non stop.
My biggest surprise about Beck is his sturdiness. He finishes his checks with autority and seems quite strong on his skates for an average-sized pro hockey player already.
I'm glad about the early production, I hope he can keep this up. A well-balanced hockey player with not a lot of flaws in his game. I hope they wait until the habs' depth is traded away at the end of the season to bring him up. I have no doubt he should claim a spot then and have a lenghty NHL career afterwards.

all good, his speed/skating has always been one of his best assets, plus he works hard at both ends, does all the little things you need to do in order to win games. I think he will need to add more mass/strength over time but he's always been a lock for the NHL since we drafted him imo.
When he's with the Habs I hope he spends a lot of time with Caufield and Laine in practice to help him make his shot more effective.
He's the kind of guy the team needs now. Looking forward to him having a full year in the AHL with maybe a few NHL games. He's always looked pretty thick and am guessing more muscle over next summer.

Can't agree more with what you said.
One year in the AHL building confidence, another Summer spent bulking-up, and Beck could be ready to be a long-term middle-6 option for us in 2025.
I feel that given what Beck's already shown at the AHL level, the "floor" for him aside from injuries is to become a full-time center for us in 2026 and stick to the bottom-6 instead of developing into a potential second-line option for us.
And let me tell you that that is one heck of a high floor to have. Couldn't be more pleased with how that pick has turned out.

I prematurely discounted his offensive potential, but after watching him play some in the AHL, I think he's still got legit top-9 potential.
No matter where he fits, I think this is the kind of player you win with in the playoffs.

He played for some teams that didn't produce much offense, but his last half last year he really showed it. It looked might fine in the memorial cup.
He also brought leadership and physicality, especially when he cranked Cowan, London's best player and probably the best player in the tournament.

People really neglected to understand just how bad Peterborough is for someone's offense.
Becks offense is premiere 3C level offense, he showed it everywhere but Peterborough.
Beck is our Dave Bolland.

Because the board uses any stretch of 'low' production as confirmation bias that a player is a bust. There's never any context to be added to numbers.
It didn't matter how many times I pointed out how numbers dropped for players going to Peterborough and numbers climbed for players leaving Peterborough, people who wanted him to be another bust for the Habs team used it as proof he was a bust.

Don't know if he'll end up being a 3rd or 4th line centerman but i don't think it matters really. What's important is the elements he brings that will be necessary to this team.
I remember I ran the numbers of players who had been traded to/traded out of Peterborough and nearly everyone who went to Peterborough saw their production drop, and nearly everyone who left saw their production increase. It was true for star OHL players and for depth OHL players too.
Martones got game. Sarnia fans ( just an hour away) are still upset lol
