Lol at people trying to write off Ovechkin again
I am actually disappointed that Gretzky has the record and not Howe.
- Howe was a better goal-scorer than Gretzky, and Gretzky benefitted so much from having peaked in the most high-scoring period
- Howe in fact still has a legit claim to being the best goal-scorer ever (along with Ovechkin and Bobby Hull)
- Howe is so much underappreciated as a goal-scorer. If you ask people for their top5 goal-scorers ever, so many of them will not even mention Howe (yet somehow Bossy will appear on the list)
- Howe would have had the record, but he left for WHA, and his WHA goals count for 0 - and it isn't Howe's fault NHL paid s**t to their stars pre-WHA
Be wild if he actually hit that considering his awful first half. Every year he has slow parts of a season and people think he’s finished and he always figures it out. Lol8 goals in his first 43 games.
15 goals in his last 22 games.
Needs 7 in his last 14 games to hit 30.
Would be awesome to see him get to 30. At that point it becomes realistic that he could potentially hit the record next season if he takes care of himself well.8 goals in his first 43 games.
15 goals in his last 22 games.

I mean, Wayne was more of a playmaker clearly. Of course there were more talented goal scorers than him. Lemieux for example would have absolutely smashed the record if he could have stayed healthy. Probably would have hit 1000 goals. But Wayne holds the record so you’ll need to get over your disappointment champ. LolI am actually disappointed that Gretzky has the record and not Howe.

Camel therapy must have helped him to get over the hump.8 goals in his first 43 games.

Getting 30 would really help him. And I couldn’t agree more on taking care of himself. He needs to make some adjustments during his prep for the next season.Would be awesome to see him get to 30. At that point it becomes realistic that he could potentially hit the record next season if he takes care of himself well.
Howe was retired for two years before he joined the WHA, so if anything he gained an extra 15 goals by going to the WHA and coming back to the NHL with the Whalers.
I still hope he fails to break Gretzky's record.
But Wayne holds the record so you’ll need to get over your disappointment champ. Lol
That year was when Boudreau/management tried shifting philosophy HARDCORE as an insane overreaction to the Montreal series. The team went into a weird defensive kind of system that got us shut out over ten times, it was ugly. Not only that, but that's when teams had started to "figure out" Ovi's main moves, so he had to adjust his playstyle - it's when his patented curl and drag while using a defenseman for a screen move started to lose a lot of its effectivenessOvechkin's 10-11 season was so weird
Was coming off 3 consecutive campaigns of 50+ then suddenly dropped to 32
I remember being worried he was losing his scoring touch then but of course he rebounded nicely the next decade
One more thing:
OV now leads his team Caps in goals, like he did in all previous 18 years.
Could be a record brewing, unless it already is,
Hard to check stat (unless @pnep runs his query)
A record that was unnoticed for 2 years.[TABLE=collapse]

No-one will ever factually be, that's his point. If Ovi "never will be" the "factually" best goal scorer of all time, who is? What criteria do you use to determine that? If he passes Wayne's record, that would mean he has the most goals of all time in addition to all of the era specific records that he holds as well, plus number of rockets, etc...
So, what criteria are you using to determine this if you are so confident to say that he never will be?
