I don't see Ovechkin stopping until he breaks the record. Do you see how happy is when he scores? He's scored 835 goals and every time he acts like it's his first.

Of course it’s not just about the points. But it shouldn’t be too difficult to admit that the team has regressed tremendously if Ovi, in his current form, has the most points on the team.

And, as usual, the haters parade in this thread works like a charm and Ovechkin scores again. 
16 points (7g 9a) in his last 15 games as a 38-year old in the best league in the world does the trick though. Right?
Sucks that the Caps are waiting on him to break the record for the revenue and publicity it's gonna bring them. I'd love if they could trade him to a contender where someone could feed him. He still got 40G potential in him.

I'll go out on a limb and say any team feeding him for a potential 40G season at this point would be actively making themselves worse to do it.. just like the Capitals recently.

I would be confident in saying that Ovie himself does NOT want to be traded to another team. He negotiated a v generous contract in order to stay with the Caps long enough to get within sniffing distance of that goals record.
Would he like to win another Cup? Sure, but I don't think it's as important to him as being a Washington Capital and finishing his career as one. Lifting a second Cup with a bunch of guys he barely knows? I don't see that as being enough of an incentive (for him to request a trade).
If he still hadn't won a Cup I think he'd be doing a Ray Bourque and asking to be traded to a contender.
Ovi fan. Agree with the premise he doesn't want to leave. But there was nothing generous about his contract

30G means 17G in 31GP, he needs last season's pace for remainder of this one.
I would take him doubling 13 to 26 and scoring 26 in each of two remaining seasans for nice grand total of 900
Caps have cool 17M cap space to replace Becky and Kuzy with a playmaker for OV, right?
