When the old “you don’t watch games” comes out it mostly means you don’t have much to say.

Yes I do watch games. I know Kuznetsov is struggling in multiple facettes. But he still a guy that is hurting the team less then OV is right now.

Some people that love OV so much don’t even want to think about this for a second.
Nah you don't watch the Caps play - doubling down like you did just makes it even more obvious. Quit while you're behind....

It nice to see the (no) arguments you bring to the table. Saying “I watch hockey and you don’t” isn’t a fact or a serious argument. What is next? Your dad is stronger then mine?

If you don’t agree, fine, but bring some facts and we can talk.
Okay I'll play. Kuznetsov is on a full season pace of 8 goals, 48 assists, 56 points. This would be his worst season since his first full season (14-15), but back then he only played 13:19 ice time as opposed to 18:31 this season.

He is supposed to be the team's 1C. He is supposed to drive play and put up around 20 goals a season and be close to a PPG player (generally more like .900). There is no doubt whatsoever that he IS hurting the team, probably more than any other player on the roster (in terms of his role and expectation level).

Well I agree with a lot of what you said, except the part we’re he is hurting the team THE most.

It is funny that you mention the role Kuz should be filling up as #1 C. I don’t disagree either.

On the other side, when your best player (OV) is averaging 80 of %OZ with huge PP and toughness of opposition that is insanely easy -0,3490 (QoC rel Corsi For %), although he is producing, It isn’t close to enough for the type of contribution he is bringing, IMO. It is a net negative. Apply the same logic you are using on Kuz for the role.

Think about it. The best player getting the most offensive zone starts and the EASIEST ice time. He BETTER be producing a LOAD.

Compare this to Kuz, who should bring more but I think with all things considered, between what is expected (all things considered with his deployment ) vs. what is produced, the gap is smaller.

I get to this conclusion because I then look at the compete results that he isn’t costing the team compared to deployment.
GF/60: 2,393 vs. GA/60: 2,051

So while he isn’t driving possession and isn’t producing enough for his deployment but because of the softness of opposition, he is still a net positive. Is he close to peak Kuznetsov, hell no. Does the team need him to step up yes.

Is it hurting the team that Kuz is facing easier opposition than what a #1 C should face? Definitely, and that is exactly what I have been saying from the start for OV but the gap is bigger for OV.

EDIT: just want to add, as I have said before in this thread, that OV should be able to produce at the same level without the getting the deployment. And this minor tweaking should help the team while not putting a stop to the record hunt.

In no world is it good to have a 37-year-old winger having five 2:00-long power play shifts in the same game.
Why not?

The Caps PP is almost entirely static. It doesn't involve a lot of skating or effort outside of passing the puck around the outside and occasionally trying to jam a pass into the slot. There's no reason Wayne Gretzky himself couldn't run the point on that PP today. It's not a taxing system.

It could probably be better, but the Caps refuse to change it, so you might as well play Ovie the whole time.
