Yeah, that's over the top and inaccurate. Ovechkin won the Cup by the time he was well surrounded.
Kuznetsov was huge in the 2018 run and finished 1st in points. Holtby pitched back-to-back shutouts to push the Caps to the SCF. Backstrom was injured for a portion of the playoff run, but he still made great plays in key situations. Oshie, DSP and Eller scored clutch goals against Tampa and Vegas.
Ovechkin did not single handedly bring the Caps to the Cup, but he elevated his game and inspired his teammates as a leader.
The biggest criticism I have is towards the early Caps management under McPhee. He absolutely wasted Ovechkin's peak years between 2008 and 2010.
Im not even a Caps fan but Ovechkin lifting the cup was one of the coolest moments I have witnessed in sports
Just simply ignore the one who is here to muckrake and is trying to drag the thread off topic. He's on a mission.Yeah, that's over the top and inaccurate. Ovechkin won the Cup by the time he was well surrounded.

How do you leave him that open? Christ lol.

Yep. GMGM was terrible in a lot of ways. It was a great turning point for this franchise when he finally got canned. It was only when GMBM finally got some depth on D and stopped dumpster diving for cardboard cutouts that the Caps really made progress and eventually won the Cup.1000% agree with this. Mcphees dumb****ery should have gotten him been banned from the NHL. From Theodore and Huet to Morrison, Jurcina, Erskine. Mcphee bargain bin shopped, drafted poorly (you dont get credit for a top 10 pick) and didnt have the stones to make "hockey trades" that would matter until he traded Forsberg in a last ditch effort to save his job. Then on top of him wasting the beginning of Ovis career, he lucked his way into the ridiculous setup the NHL had for whoever became the first gm of Vegas. He wrongfully gets credit for that.
Your comment achieved more than a modicum of failure on its own so I guess you have that.I hope Ovechkin fails.
3rd game in 4 nights for the Caps and the end of a brutal stretch for the Caps. Ovie, at 36 years old, has got to be dog tired. He plays the Canes though. Go ahead and give him at least one. Maybe 2. One will probably be a game winner. I have zero confidence when we play the Caps
6-1 Carolina. No goals for Ovie.He plays the Canes though. Go ahead and give him at least one. Maybe 2. One will probably be a game winner. I have zero confidence when we play the Caps
