i dont think that is too likely, however, had he not missed his rookie year, and another 60 games to strike/covid, he would probably be around 870 today, and then ya - 1,000 is really on the menu.

The only legit arguments are the strike and covid, the lockout benefitted his game unless you think he'd be putting up the same numbers with dead puck era rules.

Definitely deserves its own thread. I posted this in the other one but earlier I wanted him to hit 800 at home so I checked the Caps schedule, saw they had a 3 game home stand after their next game. Thought well he’s playing pretty good so he might be able to get 3 goals in his next 4 games. Then he goes out and gets a hat trick in that first game lmao.

Was beautiful to see the Chicago crowd give him a standing ovation too.

Even as a Pens fan I tip my cap. Our teams have had some battles over the years but it's always amazing to see what Ovechkin can do.

Guys like that make the sport more fun to watch, whether they play for your team or not. I hope everyone can appreciate just what a talent Ovechkin is and has been.

Grats Caps fans. Seems inevitable that he's going to get the record, and that's cool af to see.
