No one should expect Seattle to stink like it's expansion circa Ottawa Senator/Tampa Bay Lightning.

These expansion rules designed for teams to be competitive off the rip

Lehtonen was the defenseman from the KHL that was coveted by multiple teams two years ago. Leafs ended up signing him. Then traded him to Columbus in a minor league trade. And now he's heading back to Europe.

Philly was looking for a big enforcer. They almost picked Pezzeta from waivers.

Not really. He drafted pretty good d-men and goalies which are the base of a team.

He garnered no assets and no top end players. The team is junk and there's no stocked cupboard to draw from.

A monkey could have drafted some "pretty good d-men" with these rules.

And there's nothing special about his goalies either. At all.

And Francis completely botched the draft. Favorable rules don't mean anything if you don't take advantage of them.
Debatable whether or not he botched it...let's see how the season plays out.

I feel like he gave himself a lot of future flexibility, the expectations aren't high right now. I rate his approach personally.

It's not really debatable. Las Vegas came out with the better team AND three times more future assets to improve the team down the line.

Francis had some asinine price for protecting players and none of the GMs took the bait. It was a complete flop.

Good for him but it sucks for Nashville IMO. Bare prospect pool with massive contracts to mediocre players. He would have fetched a massive deadline deal if they retained 50%. They will likely re-sign Forsberg to a big deal and accomplish nothing with the same overpaid core

Nashville fan here, I think you're massively underrating our prospect pool, we had three great drafts in a row and now have quite a handful of good prospects to build up from.

Not comparing to Vegas…different approach is all

I don’t think anyone stands out to me other than Askarov and Tomasino. The fact remains there’s going to be $16m tied up in Duchene and Johansen for 4 years and Weber’s recapture looming. That’s a lot of cap taken up, that’s tough for any franchise to deal with.

Afanysev and Svechkov both have top 6 potential, and we have Farrance and Chistyakov on defense.
Parssinen and L'Heaureux are are also good, but are more boom or bust types.

Expect Johansen and Duchene to bounce back this year, especially with Arvidsson gone.

Hey you’d know more than me on the subject! Deep down I just wanted Ekholm to come fix our D problem

I have a feeling Hendrix Lapierre will be Claude Giroux all over again lol, hopefully Guhle keeps progressing. But yea, french media will never let it go if he becomes a stud that's for sure

I wanted Lapierre so bad on draft day. Like you said, only Guhle can make up for passing on him.

Thats really frustrating. I mean. We should never let a good Q player…. I really hope Guhle will become a good player. He needs to

Didn't Lapierre had injury concerns though? I think that's why a lot of teams passed on him, but at least Guhle looks promising so that's comforting lol.
