Out of Town Thread - New Year’s 2025 Edition

Thinking of conjuring some voodoo, sacrificing fried chicken for a Leafs win tonight.

Who knows the Flames pick might actually be better than ours.
It might also not belong to us if the handful of teams within striking distance pass the Flames between now and the end of the season and the Flames drop to bottom 10. The Flames have a brutally tough schedule and have scored the fewest goals in the entire NHL.

A Leafs win could secure financial independence for 100s of valiant effort generations to come and yet I would still root for their loss #GoFlames

It’s not black and white like you state it, they’re pros, not robots. If you trade players but break chemistry you won’t get the desired effect.

That said HuGo never said “won’t trade friends” that’s how some posters summarized it here.
And yet, here we are. Sens looking better than ever. That whole chemistry thing is overestimated. It's not who goes, it's who comes in. There are enough friends out there in a room so you could do without a few. Look at teams and how many players comes and goes every year. Build a strong team, have great players, and SUDDENLY you'll hear about chemistry.

Build a bad team with poor player and SUDDENLY chemistry isn't as good.

figs blow another 1st round pick and got?????? lol

They gave up Minten & a 2026 1st for Brandon Carlo from Boston, and Grebenkin & a 2027 1st for Scott Laughton from Philadelphia at the TDL.

They already traded their 2025 1st in the Jake McCabe trade with Chicago in 2023.

They have no 1st round picks over the next 3 years.

So many assets given for meh trades. TB tends to pay high prices, but they've hit it out of the park with a few of them, like Hagel for example.

Years ago I went to a Habs - Sens game in Ottawa with two friends - a leafs fan and a sens fan. I wore my Habs jersey, the sens fan his sens jersey, and our leafs buddy wore his leafs jersey. He got chirped all night long but on the flip side we made it on TV and I had a bunch of friends at home texting us they saw us.

It's always funny to see Buffalo make a late-season surge when they're already essentially eliminated and move from picking top 3 to the 8-14 range. Almost every year.

From 2013-2020 they picked 8th overall four times and 7th one more.

I gotta say their moves last summer weren't even bad. Savoie for McLeod got panned but seems like they finally got ahead of the bust curve and got a solid middle sixer.

Watch them pick 8th again.
