Hmmm, is there a way we can pretend Anderson would be an asset for Ovi to reach Gretzky's goal record?

You never know, "THEY" may be reading the board.... ;p

Lindgren stole Kuemper's spot.

Then they are in a spot where if PLD comes back to form, it's a net win for them.. if he doesn't, well they are headed for a heavy rebuild anyway and his contract is any sort of issue for them throughout that process.
Even if they go into a rebuild, if he plays like he did last season, 7 years is a long time at that cap hit. That’s a pretty big gamble that the Caps just took.

It's a long time but the cap will go up now that we are out of the pandemic impacted years, as the contract ages, the percentage of cap it eats goes down.. and if he's still trash, by the time they are competitive again, there's likely 1-2 years left at most.

The real issue is them not accepting it's over and starting their rebuild now but they are doing right by Ovechkin and he's earned that.

If Dubois get back on track, he could be a nice to have in a rebuild process. He's only 25...

It's still a sign of a good manager to move on when they realize that they made a mistake. Maybe Dubois will be a better fit in Washington but get rid of that contract for the Kings is a good move.
Agreed it is smart to realize a mistake and fix it. If you have too many mistakes then either there will be too many to fix or you won't be the one fixing them.

Good move for Washington. Dubois should be happy being the guy on a lottery team playing first line minutes uncontested with no pressure. Only there to pad Ovechkin’s stats and his own in the process, plus get summers off for the same pay.
