Tough to see how both Montreal and Ottawa make it.

It's going to be Toronto in the east. Winnipeg and Edmonton in the west.

Ottawa is the one I'm on the fence on. They are in a good spot but I don't trust them.

Vancouver is in danger of a free fall. Their depth on defense is being exposed this year. If Hughes is out for a few weeks, it's disaster and they aren't making it.

They need to trade for Matheson. And I mean that seriously.

He'd probably slot in as #2 or #3 there depending on what you think of hronek.

If canucks are interested I'm tempted to see what Rutherford would offer. He can be pretty cavalier with his prospect cupboard if you look at his track record.
He’d give them depth and help them through this stretch. He might be able to get them to the playoffs. Nobody knows how long Hughes is out for. If it’s an extended period, Matheson could help. He has his warts but the guy can skate and create offense.

Texas
Washington with six players with 30+ points.
Ovechkin scores goal #872
has 19 goals in 23 games. A true legend.

Matheson is a player that plays 25+ minutes per game. The worst thing for this organization would be to add more pressure to young D by moving the player who eats the most minutes.

Rutherford won't offer anything because he's not the GM.

He's president and under him is a relatively inexperienced GM.

It would be like assuming gorton does not have any say in Habs transactions.
Gorton has said plenty of times that he lets Hughes work and does talk to him about trades....but he's not the president.

No. You were talking like Rutherford was the GM and now you're just trying to backtrack because you didn't know. It's ok, you didn't know.

Chris Drury has shown the limits of hiring former players. Dude seems in over his head and incompetent like I’ve never seen.

At least Bergevin was authoritarian enough to keep things tight. Crappy but tight. Drury has zero respect among his players and I would bet among his peers in the league.
