As talking heads have stated, they’ve been told by management around the league it’s Gorton they talk directly to, but Hughes is on the calls listening in
We're talking about Rutherford, the president of the Canucks, not the setup they have in MTL.

Backtrack from what? I never said he was GM.

I live in Vancouver, man.
Then you should know he's not the GM, but you obviously didn't.

Gorton SVP of Hockey Ops is the same job Rutherford has as Pres Hockey Ops … it’s simply corporate titling mumbo jumbo

Chris Drury has shown the limits of hiring former players. Dude seems in over his head and incompetent like I’ve never seen.

At least Bergevin was authoritarian enough to keep things tight. Crappy but tight. Drury has zero respect among his players and I would bet among his peers in the league.
Always surprised they fired Gorton and hired Drury. Seemed like a backwards move at the time and today.

How did he backstab him? I can't remember the story

I don't know about backstabber but the timing of the firing suggests that it had something to do with the open letter the Rangers put out complaining to the league about getting beat up by the capitals.

I don't think it came from gorton though because he was critical of the letter.

Gorton was preaching patience & on continuing down the rebuild path. Drury went to Dolan unannounced and told him he can make the acquisitions needed immediately to make the team tougher & difficult playoff out

Drury’s first move as GM? Trade Buchneyvich to STL for Sammy Blais for grit… it’s been brilliant management ever since

I got him as my rookie goaltender in my draft he looks big and strong I wish the Habs would have made a deal for him

I think the goalie is the last piece to deploy as he’s going to win you games even if the team plays badly.

Between Dobes & Fowler we should be fine in a 2 years it’s more C & RD that we should shore up with assets
