When your team only wins in regulation 22.5% of the time it is a total team effort.

coach
gm
goalies
centers
d-men
wingers

Shesterkin at a 1m cap number does not make this team a 95 point team. Ask the Rangers about that. When the organization admits these problems, then you can begin to fix them.

Four years ago we were craving the firing of AV and Fletcher. The idea there was that things would get better. Watch what thrills you. It could get worse.

I’ll risk the unknown over a known POS every time.

Will be what, 2.5 years since Briere has the job? Miss a couple more seasons - and the crows start circling.

Daddy time will always come home.

Laughton is back to pacing around his career high PPG rate. It is Briere's job to turn that into an offer he likes, particularly if the package he wants is as realistic as the one you're outlining.

A good GM needs to have the killer instinct of maxing out value for his trade chips and the negotiation skills to coerce a sucker into paying/overpaying. I do not want to hear that he couldn't get an offer he didn't like; that means he is either asking for too much or he can't negotiate from a position of strength. Just for once I'd like to see a Flyers GM rip off another GM's face in a trade instead of hearing excuses about how difficult it is.

Buckle up…

Briere is exactly what we thought Chuck was.

I didn't say Torts made TK, my point was he didn't ruin 1st rd picks.
People talk out of both sides of their mouths:
"Torts is an awful HC, look how bad they are"
"They have no talent, they need to tank."

The reality is this team is playing excellent hockey at ES, the problem is STs and the goalies.
Players are developing and improving, there is a core of a good team.
They need more talent, (2) centers, a physical two way D-man, a starting goalie who can stay healthy.

How do you explain so many other players taking big steps back this year? York, Frost, Farabee, Zamula, all worse.

You don't get to pretend your currently favored guy who has been a disaster at every stop since 2006 is a wild incredible success by focusing on players who chiefly did all their development far away from Tortorella, while ignoring the ones who have and are getting worse as he and the team labor to grind all creativity and initiative out of their play.

Briere was definitely NOT a protege of Fletcher, he was forced on Fletcher.

York was dinged, overall he's playing better than last season.
Zamula is playing the best hockey of his career.
Frost is playing at the same level he's been at for four years, up and down like a toilet seat.
Farabee is primarily the victim of bad puck luck.

Oh, so then he learned from who? His prior boss in Maine was Holmgren. I've been assured he's evil.

Briere’s closest daily advisor is Fletcher’s life partner. The Flyers are probably the only team in sports history to fire the GM/President and keep the underling AGM/VP in the same role in the next front office. Predictably, it’s gone swimmingly.

According to you, every player is dinged. It's the boy who cried wolf now. We can see how he's playing and how he's reigned himself in. An already too-safe player has made himself even safer. Tortorella hockey to a T.

Zamula is playing the best hockey of his career.

Is this a joke

Frost is playing at the same level he's been at for four years, up and down like a toilet seat.

Is this also a joke?

Farabee is primarily the victim of bad puck luck.

Absolutely not. Like Frost, his strongest asset has been his playmaking. Couturier too. That's the trait that Tortorella despises the most. It places hard limitations on what those players can do. Unless "bad puck luck" also counts "My dumbf*** contract holders hired Tortorella as coach and he's suppressing my best traits," puck luck isn't the problem.
