Detroit laying a large egg in game 1 of the new coaching staff era
Yeah they need to get Sandin-Pellikka paired up with Moritz Seider as soon as possible.
Too many useless veterans signed and it should be a cautionary tale for our club.
Gotta have the right balance of the piss and vinegar that comes with youth and the steadiness of a Veteran.
We already have enough Vets signed on for next year we need to graduate some players.

The problem is they signed the wrong vets, and most people pointed this out in the offseason.

Gotta have the new young blood or you are just treading water at best.
That is the reality of rebuilding and the one aspect of it some can't seem to grasp.
Too much paranoia on our board because shitty run teams can't get the balance right IMO.

You need to have a good balance. Young players need support too to help them learn. I am not saying a team filled with vets, but having a Monahan to support a Fantilli or an Allen to support a Montembeault is important.

The two positions we need to fill remain RD and 2C
I would surely like to add veteran assets there.
It will probably take some $$$$ to get good ones which is why I'm not keen to over pay Evans.
I also believe Dobes will be a fine 1B to Montembault's 1A.

Everyone has their own opinions on where we need a vet or two, but the fact remains that we need them. I, personally, would like a vet as 2G to help bring Dobes along, and I think a Carrier-like RD is needed as well. for 2C, I think the answer lies in the org with Beck, Kapanen, Hage and even Demidov as options very soon, and we have Suzuki and (hopefully) Evans to carry the load to bring those guys along. Anyways, not trying to get in a debate about where vets are needed as I believe your opinion is valid, we just need to have some.

Young talented forward struggles after a strong start...

Is he a bust like Slaf?
Is Torts a bad coach like MSL?
Is Briere an idiot for picking him over Leonard?

Where are the hot takes to help us understand this completely unpredictable turn of events :naughty:

Kidding aside, will be interesting to see how his first full season goes. Is this rough patch something he'll fight through, or does the drought continue long enough for friction between player & coach start to boil over & either end Tort's tenure or reveal some of the rumored attitude question marks that were bubbling about MM pre-draft...

Either way, hope the Michkov fan club remembers this when Reinbacher has his inevitable rough patches... Development is rarely if ever linear!

Chychrun playing like how he did with the Yotes. I absolutely loved the player in Arizona but he was a worse Matheson with the Sens. Awesome year for him now.

Caps GM has to be in contention for GM of the year right? Prostas extended for peanuts, PLD for Kuemper, Thompson for a pair of 3rds, Chychrun for Jensen and a 3rd, and Eller for a 5th.

Basically got a 2nd and 3rd line center, a top 3 dman, and a 1B goalie for players who were cap dumps for them and some late picks.

The most important person on the team is the coach. McMichael breaks out as soon as they get rid of the imbecile Laviolette.

Is he a bust like Slaf? Neither are
Is Torts a bad coach like MSL? Torts is loco but won a Cup.
Is Briere an idiot for picking him over Leonard? No

Did many people predict before the season that there would be a war between Torts and Michkov? Yes
Do the Flyers already have a quick strike intervention squad in place to protect Torts from Michkov? Yes
Will Michkov be a star? Yes
Will the relationship between Torts and Michkov continue to be bumpy? Extremely
