Would love it but if the Canucks are looking to win now, then I don’t think the Habs have anything to offer that they’d be interested in (other than Suzuki, but he’s not getting traded). Our other most valuable pieces are too young for their timeline
Caufield... but I'd be wary moving him, he seems on the verge of a major break out. His progress has been great.

Was Stevie Y in his 7th NHL season when they said that?
Sticking with the Red Wings, Datsyuk also had a lot of criticism heaped upon him until it suddenly stopped after a good playoffs.

The rumored trade for Yashin was in 96 so long after he had been drafted and much older than EP40
Reading about the whole thing online, that deal was more Ottawa trying to acquire Yzerman to have a "local" star to help tickets sales then Detroit management thinking Yzerman was soft and/or immature.

In fact, what I found is that Yzerman was always a gritty player and team player and what people questioned before he won the cup was his leadership (like with Ovi). EP40 is being questioned for how soft he plays on the ice, he's not even the Canucks captain (that's Q. Hughes).

The Canadiens have Matheson. Quinn just went down and Matheson could really help with depth. Plus he’d be able to go back to his proper side.

9th season when Scotty told him to shape up, bear down & start playing intense team hockey that could win playoff games vs all star drills Jacques Demers had allowed to fester

Jim Develanno had a deal on the table w Sens for Yashin - Scotty asked to give Yzerman one more season to prove he was committed to maturing as a player… he did & rest is history

EP40 criticism aren't about maturing as a player, it's about maturing as a person.

Player & person go hand in hand - a mature person will inevitable be mature leader as a player. A selfish person will never be a mature person or player

Demers gave Stevie Y the “C” despite his lack of true leadership… which is maturity on & off the ice

There’s a lot more to that history.

1. Yzerman was the best player in hockey not named Lemieux/Gretzky for six years. And he did it in horrible clubs.

2. 1994 he hurt himself. He’d never be the same player again.

3. By this time the Wings had actually acquired some good players and were an up and coming team. Yes Bowman came in and demanded a certain style of playing and Yzerman bought in but he wasnt the same player he used to be anyway.

The idea that Yzerman post Bowman vs pre is better is insane. Yeah, he was an older player who bought in and good for him it made sense at that point. But Bowman had no problem with Guy Lafleur playing the way he did. No reason he’d have been upset with a guy who averaged close to 60 goals and 130 points over a six year stretch. Problem is, that guy didn’t exist anymore.

So strange rangers suck so bad

Turns out that Culture does matter...

Drury has done just about everything wrong when it comes to building a culture of respect and solidarity to the point where clearly elite level roster talent is imploding.

For all the talk about the Rangers "aging" roster, they have
- Vezina caliber goalie in his prime
- Norris caliber #1D in his prime
- elite scoring winger
plus a pretty solid group of complimentary talent.

The trouba & Kakko situations... The Gallant relationship... The Gorton relationship... All point to the same type of leadership fail, the type of which inevitably leads to a fractured culture and underwhelming performance results...

Bruins lose to the Capitals.

I don't know how the Bruins have 44 points and are currently top 3 in the division. It seems like they lose every time I check the scores. Bettman puppet master Jeremy Jacobs must have the NHL doctoring the standings.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but it's the only one i found for this.

And before anyone starts saying "u15-AAA parents should have money for NHL tickets" that is not the case in all cases, when i played juniors for the same team we did all kinds of things to fund international trip.

Edit: in fact we had a 3year plan to fund an international trip which included parents and players.

They also have scored the fewest goals in the conference AND they got to play Cayden primeau twice.
