RG.ORG: Marco D’Amico cited a well-informed NHL source claiming the league will drop the escrow withholding rate from players’ salaries from six percent to zero effective Jan. 30 for the remainder of the regular season.

The source also told D’Amico that, because profits are expected to be higher than previously projected, the players will receive between two and six percent in extra earnings.

This sets the stage for a substantial increase in the salary cap for 2025-26. It was projected to reach between $92 million and $93 million but could now rise higher.

This makes more sense as far as terms of a possibility, as any trade between the Bruins and Canucks. Both Swayman and Pettersson have no current trade protection and Demko wants out. Make it happen Sweeney!
Not really. They don't need to trade their franchise center when they could just resign Lankinen who has been just as good, if not better than Swayman this year and then call up Silovs.

It's kind of crazy that they are likely going to be trading Demko, Miller/EP and Boeser. Hoglander has also been out there, who could be a sneaky good player for somebody.

Can we please get away from players like Kreider, Miller and/or Zibanejad? They are players who had their best seasons behind them. We already signed a player like them in Lindholm in the offseason. The Bruins better invest the little bit of value they have in a young player or one who is in his prime and has a high probability to stay in it for the next years.

I like Miller too but let's not go crazy here. Miller has only a single 100 point season is his career and has 56 points in 91 career Playoff games.
last three years prior to this season, he has over 100 goals, close to 600 hits, fo % higher than Lindholm, has missed only 4 games in those three years. this season has mor PP goals than anyone on the Bruins. I am not saying he is someone to go out and get, but he is a player the Bruins are in need of. Go get him and Kreider, and this team would be pretty interesting. I am not saying and can be done, or saying it should be done, but must all admit this team might be more exciting. Before anyone wets their pants, I know about the cap.

Including Poitras in a trade for a forward on the wrong side of 30 is a radical move
What is your future outlook for Poitras look like?

Agreed. 100 pt 1st line C who are PPG in the playoffs and scream at fellow teammates that don't bring the same effort?

It's a much stronger dressing room and culture in Boston. Miller would become a fan favourite like he was here last year in Vancouver.

My guess? Carlo and Poitras? Coyle and Lohrei? Someone to replace Miller (downgrade) and then upgrade the D.

I'd also welcome Pettersson coming in with a fresh start and Pastrnak as his linemate in Boston but you have to understand that he is a quieter, more laid back Krejci and his personality comes off as super laid back and casual. Will Bruins fans and the media be as angry with him that the Vancouver fans, media and some mentioned teammates are?
I think the deal would be Zacha and Carlo… if the Canucks are looking to salvage their season. If it’s a young guy as part of the package, we’re stuck with a cap overage to account for as well. And assuming we see Poitras as a middle-six C and Lohrei as an everyday member of the blueline, we’re losing a cheap player at a key position.

This is where I think the Pettersson debate comes down to for the Bruins. There’s $3.5M between the two options and if the play is made mid-season, Miller is the far easier (although not easy) fit. If this was an off-season deal, go all-in on the younger, more rounded C.

Could you convince the Canucks to retain $2M/yr on Miller? Does his NTC help drive his price down? And if you’re some other team, do you have the assets to offer something far more attractive for Allvin?

I’d hope he turns into a 2nd line center who uses his slick hands and hockey IQ to setup his scoring wingers. Not a big kid but potentially learns how to use his body to protect the puck. Basically Krejci. He has that potential
