HF Habs: Out Of Town Thread: 2023-2024 season

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I don't know, you'd have to ask him but this board was asked who BPA was at 3 and this board voted for Zadina.

This is the perfect example to show every BPA truther that BPA only works in theory, because, in reality, BPA will vary depending on who you ask.
What is important is who HuGo considers BPA. It's irrelevant who anyone else thinks is BPA. And that is how HuGO will be evaluated.

many on this board would have given their left nut so see the Habs sign Fabian Brunnstrom.

If it were up to this board, the draft would be filled with sub 5'10" players who can't win a board battle.
Hopefully Penguin scum don't make the playoffs. Leafs are absolute garbage.

Leafs probably won't go far, but they're deep at forward. They're playing Nylander on the third line. If they start paying the price, they could go far. Big if though as they've only been soft for the last 8 years.

Some no name Leaf swings his stick into Crosby’s face, but because the puck was also present in between the stick and face the refs rescinded the penalty

One more and he beats Ovechkin's personal high. Matthews shot is just out of this world. Very strong player as well and he uses that size/strength in the defensive zone. Guy's problem is that he just doesn't elevate his play in the post-season.

His last 2 playoffs weren't bad. Combined he had 20 pts in 18 games, including 9 goals - which is a 50 goal pace.

Even Marner has 22 pts in that time frame. But, Tavares and the rest of the team has been shit. Goaltending has been a let down in big moments/games.

Nylander has been a point a game in his last 3 playoffs.

The big 3 do seem to pick up points. Their problem seems to be they pick up a lot of points early in a series and then get shutdown to close it out.

They also haven't had any support from lower lines. They seem to have that this year.

D & goaltending is still questionable, though.

Can't see them winning 4 series with that defense.

Good point. I'll admit that watching their offense this year, they seem a lot more deep and dangerous. We'll see about the defense, we've seen unspectacular groups like Pittsburgh and Carolina be serviceable and mistake free in the post-season. Both the East and West have very hard outs this year.

Carolina had a very good defense last season.

I was thinking 2006 Carolina.
Ah. Yes. Nothing about that team was remarkable with the possible exception of their goaltender. They did have very good luck in their matchups and not having to face some of the stronger teams. I believe getting lucky and having good teams go down early is a key to winning. Habs won a Cup because arguably better teams like Pittsburgh and Toronto lost to the Islanders and Kings respectively.

Pens lose in OT. The point ties them with Detroit, but keeps them in 9th due to games played.

Huge game tomorrow night between Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings. A Washington win in OT would cause the most chaos, so that's what I'm hoping for. Lol

As long as Detroit stays in until the end and needs to win at least one of their last 2 games.

It's going down to the wire. Detroit will definitely be in a position to have to beat Montreal. The problem is if it's that first game and they win to make the playoffs, they'll probably rest Larkin in the 2nd game, and I can see a let down by Detroit.

In that caae, I expect a split in the series.

If Detroit loses in regulation tomorrow they may be in a position to have to win both games against Montreal.

LAK can clinch a playoff spot tomorrow night with a win over Anaheim.

Ditto Nashville, who need a point against the Jets to clinch their playoff spot.
