If you don’t know this, you won’t guess in a hundred years.

Who’s the Flames scoring leader with 6 goals?
Who’s the Flames assists leader with 11?

Weegar for goals, Huberdeau for assists.

Reinhart getting $8.5 mil at minimum I guess. Maybe $9 mil but on 7 years instead of 8?
Either way, Zito gotta shave hundreds of thousands here and there.

Lundell won't command a lot which is some savings, Montour may not cost as much as we initially thought.

By the time Bob is off the books, we will have a lot of cap space IMO.

is it worth restructuring bobs contract? Looks like his contract is up in 3 years, not sure if hell be quitting by then as hes 35 now if we extend it to lessen the cap hit, but also not sure about our goalies outside of Bob if say Knight doesnt really get it together.

Can't restructure contracts. My guess is he's traded this offseason at 40% retained. That's if Zito is serious about keeping the current team as intact as possible.

If Zito was serious about keeping the current team intact, wouldn't he be keeping Bob?

I see all this talk about moving Bob's salary off the books. But then who would play goalie?
I want Knight to succeed as much as the next guy, but it just isn't happening right now.

I feel that if anyone is moved in the off season it will be Ekblad. The team showed earlier in the season they could perform well without him in the lineup.

This is not a slight on Ekblad, as I believe that he is still a top 3 defenseman. It's just that he is unlucky with his injuries and removing his $7.5 cap hit would allow the team to re-sign Reinhart and probably OEL.

Yeah, I have a similar feeling: assuming we can get some well needed futures, I'd probably take
Reino (9M)+OEL (4m)+1st+Cheap Depth for Ekblad (7.5m).

I think Forsling (6.5)-OEL(4)/Mikkola (2.8)-Montour (7) look good. Then run Mahura-Balsinkis or bring in another Kulikov

I don't see Reino as a 9mil player, and I know the cap is rising again and the top players are getting 13+mil.

Nitpicking over a 1mil or so but kind of hope Zito can get more discounts out of guys wanting to be here. Rather give one more year than higher cap with less term.

I think moving Ekblad is a better path to strengthen our team around, love the guy, but I think injuries are taking a toll on his body and gets long term injuries that puts him out for long term.
I would be surprised, if he is on the team next year.

Having $14M tied up in goal just isn't a good use of cap. Bob is a good part of the team and I like him more than most around here, but his contract is clearly structured to be moved this offseason.

I don't think moving just Ekblad will free up enough cap to sign Fors, Monty, and Reinhart plus an above average replacement for Ekblad. If you're signing OEL to replace Ekblad, then you're just saving maybe $3-4M. We did fine with our makeshift defense, but I doubt that's sustainable.

I could see Ekblad being moved in addition to Bob if the team wants more flexibility. That'll free up dollars for the rest of the roster to add more depth. A guy like Stenlund for example is getting a raise even if it's a small one.

Always have to remember the tax difference in Florida. May take a bit less salary but still take more home every check.
