Long Dark Blues
Seems this isn't a done deal. Jeff Marek was on SiriusXM this morning and they were still talking about Kane being a good fit for thr Panthers.
Weekes was talking up the Panthers fit on NHL Network a couple days ago.

Rodrigues - Barkov- Reinhart
Verhaeghe - Bennett - Tkachuk
Luostarinen - Lundell - Kane
Lomberg - Stenlund - Cousins

Forsling - Ekblad
Ekman Larsson- Montour
Mikkola - Kulikov

Pretty Good!

in case folks missed the first intermission, they reported that zito's big pitch to Kane was that he's the only guy good enough to play at Barkov's level. I believe if he lands here, he will start on the top line. there was also talk about a long-term deal.

I'm on the fence about bringing Kane in.

On the one hand, we have exactly zero one-timer threats on the PP (Swaggy is about as close as we get to that). Kane would instantly make the PP much more lethal. He's also got a shoot-first mentality which is exactly what Mo wants.

On the other hand, he's not a speedy guy, and his attention to detail on defense is below average. I'm puzzled to see how he's a fit 5v5 with the Panthers style outside of his shot.

Heck, if you want a one-timer on the powerplay, get Hoffman back. He's lethal.

I am sure he would fit in ala Giroux, but is he really needed?

I could envision Luo, Lundy and Rodrigues as the 3rd line with Cousins to the 4th line in that scenario.

If he can still play then the added depth is always good. And to me Rodriguez isn't a top line player, I know he has played well and I like him but think he would help tremendously Lundell and Luostarinen with his speed. Plus there are always injuries.

If he can play and isn't a detriment to the room and takes league minimum then sure, sign him. A lot of ifs though. Zito better be on top off his game.

Blue Jay Way..
Levi never passed the watch test, meaning every time i watched him play he just looked so tiny and beatable....all it took was NHL scouts figuring out how easy he was to best high and wide and ....you get 7th round goalie.
Zito definitely sold high on his brilliant world junior and college experience.
