Carolina and Columbus both have 5 games remaining.
Carolina and Columbus both play 2 games against teams in the playoffs and 3 games against teams outside.
Carolina has 2 of those 5 at home. Columbus has one of their 5 at home.
Carolina has 1 back-to-back. Columbus has 2 back-to-back.
Carolina goes Saturday-Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday. Columbus goes Saturday-Sunday-Tuesday-Friday-Saturday.

The Carolina Hurricanes have Philadelphia at home this Saturday and end at Philadelphia next Saturday.

The Philadelphia Flyers have the 2nd most say in determining if the Columbus Blue Jackets can get the 1st Wild Card.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have the most say in the matter.

Part of the whole "convince Bob it's not crunch time" campaign.

Well imagine that they face Tampa and beat the shit out of them. Bob keeps his current form, offense and defense click.

That overhypted Tampa team losing to CBJ would be a miracle. A more than welcome one :Р

If they still fail to make the PO then I will probably feel like doing what Malkovitch does here. Throw my gf out of the house, get drunk and hope to find an intruder in the basement.

I keep thinking that it's just a rut and I wholeheartedly believe it. If we exit this slump at the right time I believe this group could do some damage.

Going to be disgusting cheering for Pittsburgh against the Canes, but here we are...

Think we’ve got a pretty good shot at getting WC1. Just have to outgain Carolina by 1 point in the next four games. We have Buffalo, Boston, NYR and Ottawa. That “should” be six points. If Canes lose in regulation at Pittsburgh, they’d have to beat Toronto, NJ and Philly to stay WC1.

ETA: “Tolerating Carolina scoring fewer goals than the Penguins” is a probably more appropriate way to describe it than “cheering for Pittsburgh.”

I’m honestly not sure who I’m rooting for in that Pens/Canes game. Pittsburgh winning would obviously help us more immediately, but if the Hurricanes win, Pittsburgh falls to WC1, and beating Buffalo would have us one point behind them both, with the #3 spot suddenly in reach.

As long as we keep winning, good things will happen.

That’s obviously the key. But with our final four being Buffalo, NYR and Ottawa (three bad teams), and a Boston team we just got three points out of four from in a week... I think it’s OK to look upward.

I'm rooting for Pittsburgh in this game since they have an easy schedule to finish off the season after this game. 2 games against the Red Wings, 1 game against the Rangers. If they win those games, we won't catch them. Carolina at least has to face Toronto and Philadelphia one more time.

I'd just be happy with the WC1 spot honestly

Well, so far you’re getting it that way.

As long as it doesn’t turn into a three-point game, there’s good news.
