I can buy that Tampa has a 25% chance of winning the SC but there is no way CBJ have a 20% chance of beating Tampa. I am curious where these numbers came from. Can you share?

20% seems about right to me. Those aren't good odds...

Tampa has a 78% chance of advancing to the second round according to the Athletic.

Hockey is a pretty variable/often fluky game (much more so than football and basketball, though not as much as baseball). A 7-game series is small enough that Bob stealing a few games, a few weird bounces, etc., could make the difference. It’s not a 999-game series; it’s only a 7-game series. Tampa was better than Washington last year.

Further, we’re not Ottawa. We’re not Detroit. We’d still be a playoff team with Artemi Panarin, Seth Jones, Sergei Bobrovsky, Matt Duchene, Cam Atkinson...

Tampa got steamrolled by the caps last year. It was one of the most lopsided 7 game series I've seen in a long time. Tampa got all the lucky bounces and still lost. The caps were the better team without a doubt.

If we get Vezina Bob for the playoffs, then we can beat Tampa.

Regardless how this all pans out, I think Bob is motivated to put the 'playoff Bob' label to rest. I'm glad we kept him at the deadline and I'll wish him well when he leaves in the summer, hopefully after a stellar playoff performance.

With the Canes going down, the CBJ are now 3 back of Carolina. They play Caps again Thursday night. If Canes lose, CBJ are potentially one back if they beat Habs. Could get interesting.

I think we need to win 4 of the last 6 to catch Carolina and get WC1 with the ROW tiebreaker

At least. Honestly, winning only 3 may not get us in the playoffs. (If one of the 3 wins is Montreal in regulation, only 3 wins could be enough, especially if at least one of the losses in our other 3 games is in OT. If we lose to Montreal, we’d have very little chance at the playoffs with only 3 more wins.)

Canes have a pretty tough schedule (even Philly, who they play twice, is one of the better non-playoff teams), but I still would expect them to win at least 3 of their final 6 to finish with 97+ points. 4-1-1 would get us 97.

There are many GIFs that could apply here... but this one really nailed the level of emotion with the situation described above...
