The only thing separating the Rangers from the bottom of the bottom this year are injuries and an 11 game stretch where pretty much everything went right for them. Every team has gotten wins/points in games where they don't deserve them, but I defy anyone to point out a team who has more than this one.

Of course, Buffalo has been straight ass save for a 10 game winning streak, so yeah, they would still out suck us in the end.

Those two wins against Taranna and Marty St. Louis are gonna cost the Rangers. Going from a good prospect at 5 or 6 to possibly a great prospect at potentially 2 or 3. We are talking Kaako or Podkolzin versus a Dach or Cozens.

But CHARACTURRR BUILDING!

...In all honestly, those wins are probably offset by losing to NJ and Ottawa. For sure Ottawa, who many of us had pegged as a for sure W.

Henrik took this loss really hard - last time I saw him like this in the interview was after the Stanley cup final some years, not good. :(

Think about it. For most of his pro career, going back to Sweden, this is a guy who gave up 1.4 to 2.4 goals per game, and stopped 92 to 93 percent of the shots he faced.

Beyond any frustration he might have about the team in front of him, I’m sure he’s well aware that he’s not that guy anymore. He can’t just will this team to victory or play like he’s a demigod.

On some level, this has to be a time when he particularly feels his own mortality as a player. He’s literally never been through anything like this in his adult professional life.

There were no disasters in Sweden. There were no dog days in the AHL. He didn’t play through the 2003 or 2004 seasons in NY.

Up until this point he’s almost always been in a competitive environment. Now he’s not, and he’s not going to single-handidly change that either.

Hell, the 27 year old Lundqvist would’ve had his hands full on this squad. The 37 year old version is an especially crappy position.

Depending on his personality, one really wonders if returning to Frolunda with Joel and being a hero game to game for 5-7 more years wouldn't be more fun than staying in NY.

It would be a Lundqvist block party every game. Straka and Rucinsky really loved finishing their careers in Europe. Many good players do.

Yup. This isn't rock bottom yet. Next year is rock bottom. The Rangers will add a vet or two to round out the 4th line, but ultimately I think they'll end up without a Panarin or Karlsson, even if they make decent offers to them.
I think I'll save my money not buying Center Ice next season. Otherwise I'd burn out the fast forward button on my remote.

I saved my money and used caststreams app on my android device. Cost was $10 for the entire season all teams and games.

True. But do you take the hitter who consistently bats .330, or the guy who bats .125 on the season and reminds everyone of that one hit he got that one time?

There are people here who are pretty damn good at this stuff, even in an activity where the strikeout rates are fairly high.
I’m not saying that everyone is equal at this stuff. I know that some people are much better at it than others. I’m merely saying that it’s forgivable if someone made a mistake in regards to Tkachuk, as there’s a low success rate in general. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t people who are generally good at it. Also, if I remember correctly, most people that didn’t want the Rangers to take Tkachuk didn’t hate Tkachuk as a prospect. They just wanted to them to take a player who supposedly had more offensive upside at that draft spot (that was some of the reasoning). Just like Andersson. I don’t dislike Anderson, but I wanted the Rangers to take someone else at that spot.

I check in after months and people still be trolling lol.
Why are you @ me?
Did you want to explain how Mika scored all those points against the worst team in the league or how he got completely outplayed by a 19 year old Tkachuk tonight?
His giveaway was a thing of beauty BTW but so much for that extra effort eh?
Pshh..I'll go back to posting else where..Piece out! :thumbu:

Bad game, good to see Lias have a decent showing though. Not many more games to get the mojo built up but any good performance is helpful.

I will say that I feel like Tkachuk should serve as a bit of a cautionary tale about getting too enamored with individual skill sets.

Yes, skating is important. And shooting is important. And other skills are important.

But at the end of the day, it’s about how all the different aspects come together and translate to the pro game. The idea is to find a great player, not to find a guy who can dominate at a skills competition.

In an era of highlight videos and people selectively editing what they want to present to a broader audience, its important to look at how a player utilizes his tools.

Blasting shots from 10 feet out looks great, but you’re not going to consistently beat NHL goalies from that far out.

Blowing past a bunch of guys is impressive, but it’s harder to do when you’re not playing against a kid who will be relying on his college degree for his paycheck in four years time. Etc. etc.

The approaches taken by a lot of websites born in recent years tend to have quite a few glaring player evaluation holes that get increasingly exposed as the strategy is no longer the new kid on the block.

Been trying to make this point for several weeks. Henrik may decide it’s time to go.

Yeah we need a better effort for sure next game, and hopefully not only Lias`s line, but Im pleased that Lias is progressing well in this game. I thought Vladislav Namestniko had another strong game as well, and one of our few prospects who are doing very well after TDL with Buch. In addition both look much better now compare to beginning of this season.

2019 Rangers summer signings and we are back into playoffs when Gordon figure out how to fix our defense and we need D signing as well! ))

  • Zucc (I doubt Dallas stars can afford to resign him 2020 draft is too strong // we need him on PP and a quality veteran player.)
  • Connor Mc. David (unhappy recently with Oilers, facts.)
  • William Nylander (One of the top Leafs forwards due to cap issues next summer window.)

At least wishful thinking, night, nite! laters!! :)

- Dallas has just as much cap space for next year as we do and has the much greater need for said player. They probably don't care much about the 2020 draft, they kind of need to squeeze a winner out of what they have right now.
- You're a year or 2 early on this one.
- Maybe, but doubtful. Nylander is a great chip for them to use to get a stud defender, which we don't have.

Still don’t get why he won’t take a shot at a cup somewhere else? Why ride the elevator down to the sub basement??!

The one thing I’ll say for Lundqvist is that he’s not just a player on the team. He really did embrace the entire package of being a Ranger, and of being a New Yorker.

Outside of Sweden, I truly believe there is no other place on the planet he’d rather be than New York.

Some guys go all-in on that concept - Messier, Leetch, and Richter come to mind. Being in New York wasn’t just something that came with the job, it was central to the life they built.

Lundqvist is in that same boat. So when we start talking about moving and trades and chances for the cup, it’s not just about changing teams for him. It’s a serious change in his identity and the fabric of the life he has sewn for himself.

yeah I doubt it happens, but they can`t increase the cap limit too high next season. I`m worried about a new lockout so I don`t believe that Leafs can afford all their RFA signing with a similar cap limit as this season.

CBC talking about Lundqvist losing the starter's position like he didn't play 35 of the first 41 games of the season while Georgiev was playing in Hartford to keep warm... He looks exhausted, just like last year. Then again, not one of those goals was one I'd feel comfortable assuming Geogiev would've magically stopped.
