Not sure how you can watch Sogaards performance today and come to any other conclusion.

He can't make simple saves.
He can't catch pucks
He lets out bad rebounds resulting in the the D scrambling to recover
He takes penalties

He is the opposite of a calming presence and actively costs the team.
His rope should be very very short at this point.

I agree he’s extremely bad.

If that’s where you’re getting at. He did not lose the game though.
It really is though, jets get back in the game because of a bad goal

The D gets worn down because he can't freeze a puck,

He takes a penalty costing us another goal.

Goalies have a bigger impact than just the saves they make or don't, he's letting out rebounds that gave no business being let out, so our D ends up scrambling to clear instead of getting their change.

Even Forsberg would have gotten us to OT at the least.

Gotta be happy with the r
The skaters played a good road game. They outplayed their opponent.

This is the goaltending coming up short. No team plays perfect hockey and to expect a team trying to make the playoffs for the first time in 8 seasons to need to play a perfect hockey game against the #1 team in the league otherwise they "don't deserve it" is a bad take.
Gotta be hapoy with where their road game is at, some glaring mistakes but nothing they couldn’t overcome if they had an nhl goalie

Wild weekend...first Seeing our kids lose to Latvia (full marks for Latvia playing amazing), now watching our 3rd? 4th? stringer against a powerhouse....crazy nights, man. Crazy.

If you play one of the best teams in the NHL with one of the hottest lines in the NHL and have a bad defensive game how are you expecting a win?

The team deserved to lose tonight. Soogard or not.

Only seems like a bad defensive game because Soogard can't make hard saves. We didn't give them much at all overall and while yes, two of the goals were mostly on bad defense, this is the Jets we're talking about so expecting to shut them out entirely is silly, much less saying we deserved to lose.

We need some of our injured players to come back sooner then later especially Ullmark

Ullmark's not back for this road trip and I venture he might not be back for a few more weeks. They're gonna have to figure out how to win without him.

But yeah, if we at least get Zub and Perron back, it'll allow us to compete a bit more sans Ullmark in net.

The Latvia game is a good comparison. You can complain about Team Canada because they were supposed to win and they came out flat.

Ottawa was supposed to lose this game. The Ottawa skaters came out strong and remained strong all game even after Soogard showed he would disappoint them.

Nitpicking individual mistakes as the reason this team lost the game when Winnipeg had a dozen or more breakdowns leading to high quality Ottawa chances is silly to me.

You want to complain about a player outside the loss? Sure. I have complaints about Kleven. But the player who lost this game is Soogard, end of story.

Perron hopefully goes on LTIR so we can use that money on a backup goalie who we can roll the dice on. Wouldnt bank on him moving the needle, but more Zub and less hamonic is a huge difference.

This could have been a 2-1 win if Ullmark was available.

If not one point was very well in reach .

Norris had a couple chances to put the game out of reach. The one on the pp should have been buried for sure.

I was almost amazed they started Sogaard. If Forsberg starts tomorrow it makes less sense.

I told you guys from day 1 that Soogard is trash
When exactly was day 1.. a lot of things were said that day

OH and I loved Hamonic moving out beyond the crease and pointing letting the boys know where they should be when he loses his man behind him on the doorstep.

Wrong. If the teams switched goalies it would have been 6-1 for the Sens. Hellybuyck is one of the top 3 goalies in the world and played like it, Soogard is a so-so AHL goalie and played like it.

Hellebuck was good, and while idk if I'd say he robbed us, he was definitely a factor

When we needed to slow things down and get back to the basics of a road game, Sogaard let in a softy and solidified the Jets momentum.

He followed that up by giving them a PP because he can't freeze a puck, and it cost us.

I gave Sogaard a lot of rope because he was getting starts behind a terrible Defensive group and was really young, but enough is enough, we shouldn't be starting him again unless he's significantly improved, every game he plays there's at least one goal that should never happen

Jets give up more high danger chances than we do. And I think Vegas does as well

Not really relevant, Vegas Aiden Hill isn’t some superstar goalie who is winning games on his own. Jets have enough pieces that even without Helly and some random putting up .900 they would certainly make playoffs. When you have that kind of fire power you can get by with a decent goalie. Sens don’t have that luxury.

Sogaard is the primary reason we lost. JBD and Kleven were also dogshit today.

We only allowed 23 shots against, that's below our average. The team tried on the back end, but Sogaard just caved under pressure and even took a penalty ffs.

Having said that, the team's mental toughness is concerning. As bad as Sogaard was, the team can't rely on Ullmark to have a save percentage above .950 during a hot streak to win. They gotta lock in when the opposition plant the seeds for a comeback, let alone letting a team score 4 unanswered.

Our depth and top 6 really need to step up. No complains from Brady, Stu or Bath, but Norris really needs to step up (dude has 2 goals in his last 10 games).

If jets don’t have helleybuck they probably look a lot like us right now.

Have you seen our record when goalies save .900 or above the last two seasons? It’s pretty spectacular.

Aiden hill is a good goalie. He does what he needs to.
