His reaction time and arm movement is definitely subpar. He's slow to pick up the play and then his arms barely move. He can't even catch pucks from long distance.
Yeah every single shot bounces off of him at high speed it’s almost impressive he’s a human spring board.

Yeah on the 4th goal he’s made up his mind that the shot is going to his blocker side. And even when the shot is released he moves as if that’s where the shot is going…but it isn’t…. He can’t react fast enough to anything.

How many times have the Sens scored on breakaways this year vs league average? Feels like a lot of failed 5-hole tucks and shooting it wide from watching games.
The 5 hole tucks need to f***ing end. Every goalie in the league knows it’s coming now

Goaltending again ....
On the bright side, I hope we can all agree that when our goaltending is fixed (ie. healthy Ullmark and an up and coming reliable back up in place), we have a team that can go toe to toe with any team in the league. I really believe that.

So we're basically just one piece away. It's a tough piece to get; a reliable, young, up and coming goalie is not easy to find. Maybe we have it with Merilainen.. hard to know. But overall, I believe we're close to contending.

Looking good but if we are talking cup then we still need 2 top 6 F (Giroux will need to move to 3rd line minutes) and ideally a top 4 D to play with Sanderson so Zub can play with Kleven.

If we are talking cup we are talking 3 top 6 forwards. Cuz we will need a center to replace Norris

Our top 6 still isn’t doing anything 5 on 5.
It's been the case for awhile now. In their last 10 games, the following players from the top 6 have scored ES:
- Giroux (2 goals - Van & Preds)
- Drake (2 goals - Pitts & Ducks)
- Stu (1 goal - Seattle)

All of the other goals by the top 6 have been either on the PP (Brady 1, Drake 2, Norris 1), SH (Norris 1, Greig 1) or OT (Brady 2).

I knew they weren't scoring much but even I was surprised they only produced 5 ES goals during that 10 game period.

Ullmark's not back for this road trip and I venture he might not be back for a few more weeks. They're gonna have to figure out how to win without him.

But yeah, if we at least get Zub and Perron back, it'll allow us to compete a bit more sans Ullmark in net.
I'd add Amadio to that list. He makes the smart play and has chemistry with Pinto.

Sogaard is the primary reason we lost. JBD and Kleven were also dogshit today.

We only allowed 23 shots against, that's below our average. The team tried on the back end, but Sogaard just caved under pressure and even took a penalty ffs.

Having said that, the team's mental toughness is concerning. As bad as Sogaard was, the team can't rely on Ullmark to have a save percentage above .950 during a hot streak to win. They gotta lock in when the opposition plant the seeds for a comeback, let alone letting a team score 4 unanswered.

Our depth and top 6 really need to step up. No complains from Brady, Stu or Bath, but Norris really needs to step up (dude has 2 goals in his last 10 games).
None of the top 6 are scoring enough ES, only 5 ES goals amongst them in the last 10 games (2 from G, 2 from Drake, 1 from Stu). It's a real problem as they get the most ice time for forwards.

The bottom 6 have been producing ES at a good pace recently, so I consider them less of an issue.

Our D are not known for their offensive prowess so any goals they score are a bonus. Chabot/Jensen usually get their points setting up the goals.

Singling out Norris is a head scratcher for me as his goal production lately is similar to the other top line players + he brings other things to the table: great on the PK, face-offs. Same could be said for G.

Kleven does look noticeably better with Matinpalo. Kleven isn't a puck handler and neither is JBD but Matinpalo seems good enough at it that it calms down Kleven.

You could turn it how you want, teams will make mistakes, the reason we lost this game is Sogaard, that's it, he is simply bad and give 0 confidence to his teammates.
NB: Kleven is not good with a puck in his stick.
