That 4th goal was brutal, no screen, no pass options, take the shooter. An NHL goalie stops that 99/100 times. This game is largely on Soogard, but not fair to him being I expect a W against the jets but have a fun career in the AHL because his only skill is drinking water aggressively. Hamonic is also a putrid plug loser who should retire yesterday.

Disagree the D was at fault there, especially Sanderson.

Do people really think this loss in on Soogard?

It’s not.

We were winning 2-0. Centimeters from being 3-0.

First goal Kleven-JBD not clearing the puck. Not covering their guys.

Second goal on Soogard, okay.

Third goal can’t clear the puck, ends up in a PP for the Jets. Cross crease pass. D leaving the lanes open across the net. Easy goal.

Fourth goal there’s 3 guys below the hashmarks, let a 30 goal scorer totally alone in 8 feet from the net. That’s a goal 99% of the time.

Multiple times we had the puck on our sticks tonight and just couldn’t get the puck out of the Dzone. This is what cost us the game.

The team did not play well defensively tonight. Against a team like the Jets it was not going to end well. Soogard is undoubtedly bad but the goals he let in tonight besides the 2nd goal I would’ve never expected him to stop.
This loss isn't on Soogard, but the win isn't on Soogard either. He played okay, and then let in a terrible goal at the end. He looks like the original Nintendo Hockey Goalie trying to make saves. Just spread eagle and hope it hits you.

Not sure how you can watch Sogaards performance today and come to any other conclusion.

He can't make simple saves.
He can't catch pucks
He lets out bad rebounds resulting in the the D scrambling to recover
He takes penalties

He is the opposite of a calming presence and actively costs the team.

Disagree the D was at fault there, especially Sanderson.

Sanderson doesn’t have the best awarnesss on the team but it’s easier to slam Hamonic because Dorion said he traded a 3rd when they wanted a 4thecreating all this outrage that remains today

The point is you cannot expect Soogard to play like Helleybuck, or Ullmark or even Forsberg.

This loss is not on him. The guys needed to play a perfect game to even sniff a win. They didn’t. Results were to be expected.

I'd say it's more on the coach for playing Soogard at all against Hellbuyck and the Jets but our options are pretty bad knowing we're facing another top team tomorrow in the Wild.

We need an actual NHL backup who can stay healthy.

I agree he’s extremely bad.

If that’s where you’re getting at. He did not lose the game though.

Turning point of the game: Norris fails to make it 3-0 on an open net and Sogaard allows the backend goal seconds later.

With the amount of injuries we have, we had to be much sharper on both plays against a top team. That puck has to find the back of the net and the goalie has to make that save.

Oh well. On to Minnesota and Gustavsson vs Merilainen tomorrow.

Hamonic wasn’t on the ice for that goal, it was on a half change JBD and Sanderson were out there.

Hamonic had a good game today.

So the thing is, sometimes defence aren’t perfect a the goalie needs to stop a high risk chance. Just look at the other side of the ice for an example. Something Soogard can’t be expected to make any contribution and he hasn’t taken the step you would expect from a 24yr old who is primed for an NHL career. He sucks. Also Sanderson is still struggling, just not as bad as our D grade goalie depth.

The skaters played a good road game. They outplayed their opponent.

This is the goaltending coming up short. No team plays perfect hockey and to expect a team trying to make the playoffs for the first time in 8 seasons to need to play a perfect hockey game against the #1 team in the league otherwise they "don't deserve it" is a bad take.
