I think no one was trailing on D and no one stayed in the high slot to support him.

He was all alone with the puck, he could have skated with it and tried to wait until someone got open or give himself a shooting lane. But passing it in the skate of someone was just going to kill the chance for sure.

So... fire it into some skates instead of holding onto it, maybe skating somewhere else with it?

The right play wouldve been not to delay the play and shoot into the goalies pads and hope someone catches a rebound. A bit of a lack of chemistry during that play.

That, or any number of options that involved not panicking and unloading the puck quasi-aimlessly while in open space in the offensive zone...
