Nicki Paterson will not feature in Saturday's season opener in Carolina. Both Paterson and Oliver will miss the match due to suspension for yellow card accumulation to end the 2014 season. Midfielder Mauro Eustaquio will also miss the opener serving his 1-game suspension that carried over the regular season finale last season where he received a red card.

I knew red cards carried over to the next season but did'nt know yellow cards did as well.

How would the current team fare in the mls?? Would they be redblacks bad?

Yes, maybe even worse. You can quote Canadian Championship games all you want, but the fact is MLS teams don't give it much importance until the final, if they so happen to make it.

Ottawa would be lucky to win five games in an MLS season, IMO.

Good end to the pre-season, seems as though the dust-ups of the final two games last year at home against Indy and down in Ft. Lauderdale have lingering effects with the cards

Toronto didn't have a pro team before TFC, buddy.

Fifteen Markets Ahead of Ottawa

1) Minnesota (confirmed)
2) Atlanta (confirmed)
3) Miami (This is nearly confirmed)
4) Second Los Angeles franchise (this is nearly confirmed)
5) Sacramento (draws ridiculous numbers in USL pro)
6) Indianapolis (incredible numbers in its inaugural NASL campaign)
7) San Antonio (worked well in its four years in NASL)
----------
8) St. Louis (huge population area, plenty of investment $$$)
9) Bay Area (SF/OAK) (huge untapped population area with massive latino pop)
10) Phoenix (huge untapped population area with massive latino pop)
11) Las Vegas ($$$)
12) Austin (bigger, wealthier market)
13) Jacksonville (bigger, more soccer interest than Ottawa)
14) Charlotte (way bigger)
15) Tampa (longer soccer tradition, bigger market)

That's great and all, but markets also need the ownership group, and more importantly a stadium. We already know lower league teams with support show very nicely .. cities that weren't even on the radar 2 years ago are list topping now because of the support. Minnesota is in, Sacramento seems like a sure thing now. But more importantly no stadium no team, like he says if the Fury start putting more butts in the seats with the stadium already existing it just takes the ownership group expanding to be a real possibility.

Would Ottawa be the next city or 2 (im not including minn, atlanta, lafc they are in already essentialy)? No... but MLS shows no sign of slowing expansion and if Ottawa can put those butts in the seat I see a real possibility around team 26-30. Having a stadium and support can make a smaller market a hell of a lot more enticing.

Like you're seeing in Indiana right now, you can have 10,000 a game and it puts you in contention , but no stadium gets built and none of that matters, and it looks like their stadium hopes are in dire straits right now. That's Miami's problem at the moment to.. obvious city choice, ownership group is great but having a real issue with the stadium.

Infact the stadium being recently redone is about the only reason we can even be in on this conversation long term as well.. but take too long to get support up and that matters less as other markets get ducks in a row. If we can get that 9000-11000 it could happen.
