OT: Ottawa food thread!

Huh, I had no idea they were related, I'll have to give them a try,

If you go in expecting peak “Vanier location” level ‘Za you’ll be disapointed. If you compare it to the other spots available in the neighbourhood you’ll probably be pleased. All about the expectation level.

Bit of a backhanded compliment but “it’s good for Orleans”.

Is Orleans really a pizza wasteland? I know you can get decent frozen pizzas from the Chicago style place on Innes near the 417.

Well, Innes by the 417 isn't Orleans...

there's a place called aroma's in Orleans that's pretty decent, it used to be a lorenzo's but the owner retired and his nephew I think started a new place.

Im not that much a fan of of traditional Canadian pizzas. I used to like Gabriel's/Milano's but over the last few years I don't think the are worth the price anymore. I used to order the Gabriel's Deluxe but now it's 45 Dollars with 2 drinks. Get it delivered and its 50 bucks. It's better than Pizza Pizza but not $25 more. If you order Pizza Pizza right its decent.

Better than frozen and it comes with 3 drinks.
I like Gabriel's Pizza. I usually get 1 large Pepperoni (drive in special for about $19) plus a large Deluxe for I think about $33. Take both home, eat a couple of pieces and freeze the rest in Glad Wrap and Freezer Bags. Yum.

Not really a fan of Pi Squared at all.

My personal favs in Ottawa would have to be either Heartbreakers downtown, Juluca's in Barrhaven, or Louis Pizza.
Had Louie' s and Uncle Louie's pizza. Very good. But Uncle Louie's is no more. Retired about 5 or more years ago from their location near SLSC.

If I've got the time, I'd much prefer to make my own dough, and do it in my cast iron pan in the oven, to me that's the best way to make pizza at home without a standalone pizza oven (apparently the big green eggs work well too).

But, frozen pizza is something quick and easy, more for my kids to make themselves if I'm out. Most of the options out there are pure garbage though.

You wouldn't think it would be so hard to make a frozen pizza that comes out half decent, sauce and cheese freeze fine, there are other bread products that work well (frozen croissant's and baguettes are both fine) but it seems it's a near impossible challenge to do it with Pizza...
I think it is because cheap frozen Pizza sells a lot and higher quality Pizza does not.
