OT: Ottawa food thread!

How much are they now?

Even before inflation I was astounded at how little DiRienzos would charge for them… I’m assuming they must be up to $8 or $9.

Great little deli.
I went a few weeks ago and I think with tax it's $10 but I will usually buy a drink too.

You do end up with a sore jaw afterwards though. Also, the bread isn't fresh on Saturdays.

Bonita tacos in the east end. Very good stuff and amazing homemade sauces. I never had birria tacos before, and glad I tried them, but not sure I would get them again. Overall I would go back.

Turkish House on Bank Street, near South Keys. I can go every week, super tasty and the coal fire taste was amazing. Just an unbelievable value as well. And their cold baklava was a revelation. This is a 10/10 place for me and will be back!

+1 on Turkish House. Try the eggplant in tomato sauce appetizer!

Oh I did, licked that plate dry. And the bulgur, which is something I don't eat, was a showstopper compared to the Afghan or Persian versions I have had which have rice instead

This place has amazing sandwiches

Antares/auriga business park near hunt club and prince of wales.
Seconding/Thirding this - a very rare 5.0 rating on google maps - great sandwiches, friendly small business family service, be prepared for a lineup :-)

Oh and don't sleep on the Tuesday and Friday? pizzas

For $8 these black label Presidents Choice pizzas are an excellent option - the pepperoni is fantastic and kinda Portnoy-esque - no flop.

No Frills is constantly sold out of just specifically the pep version fwiw

A plug for Dao bakery/cafe on merivale. It’s in the worst strip mall, but they have the best pastries and some of the best coffee. I see lots of people on dates there and it’s always jammed. My kids do martial arts at like 8:00 pm on Wednesday’s and I’ll pop in to the place being packed.

Only caveat besides the parking lot is that it’s pricey. Definitely a guilty pleasure once in a while or “impress a girl” kinda spot. Not your daily cuppa.

Their pastries are works of art.

For sushi lovers, I highly recommend MHK Sushi on Wellington in the Westboro area. Their specialty rolls are incredible. I have never had a bad sushi there.

Have been enjoying Sushi-Ro's lunch bentos lately - they're worth a try.

Went to Stolen Goods last weekend for the first time. HOLY SHIT. It was delicious. 10/10 recommend for fancy cocktails and bites. Sitting at the Bar is very worthwhile, the two owners are awesome
