@OMG67 I'd put a 100$ on Mews not making it through the season as a 67
I can't say that it will be Kingston but his agent is working hard to get him out regardless of the picture a few want to paint about him not wanting out.LOL.
That’s not a bet I think I’d take!
I’m on the fence for that one. I really think Brantford is the landing spot for a few reasons but I know you had mentioned Kingston.
I don’t think Boyd wants to trade him but I also think he is going through the motions right now with little effort. So, sooner or later that will need to be addressed.
I agree, Mews is just going through the motions right now and needs to move on. He is only hurting himself by not being truly engaged and he has already had a major bump with his career being dropped to the 3rd round in the NHL draft.
He might as well play forward now as he is always up ice and causes a lot of 2 on 1s. Does he really want to be a hockey player, if so he better show effort and dedication so Calgary will really show a lot of interest. He seems to have some tools but he has to improve his overall game.
Coach is always the easiest one to blame i find.In the past I had compared Mews to Brendan Bell. All the tools, no tool box. Both seem somewhat selfish and lack coach-ability.
But, how many players wanting out while pointing at the coach do you need before you actually start looking at the coach? I think we may be getting to that point in time. I think Norm Milley has been patient. Maybe it is time for the 67’s to make that switch this next offseason. Cameron is 66 years old. Not deathly old but he’s had a pretty good hockey career. Maybe some new blood with Milley is what we need? No disrespect meant either but there always comes a time where your message starts to get lost. We may be at that point in time. It happened with HHOF Kilrea, so it is not disrespectful to point to that possibility.
I think Boyd has charted a path this season and should follow through with it. I wouldn’t move DC out during the season. I don’t think that would make any real difference.

Cameron is kind of a strange dude with a different personality and i could definitely see it leading to a disconnect with players.
Mews is going down the path of being a player that plays his 20 year old season in the O.
Probably doesn't want to go through the restructure this year and next. (Not saying fire sale as i know Ottawa doesn't like to do that)
Trust me when I say don’t take this bet, specially in the last 7/10 days, there is tons of stuff going on behind the scenes in Ottawa right now with player movement. I don’t think you will see it come until the deadline as well, from what I’ve been told it’s trying to be a retool rather than a rebuild as wellLOL.

Remember when I brought this up in the summer and was basically told it wasn’t true? Well look how that turned out….I think that may be tough but I definitely see an issue with a. Couple players and if the issue is accurate, I can see where you are coming from. The question becomes whether that retool can happen in this conference this year.
You nailed one right on the head beast, in fact it’s hurting the dressing room big time right now I think you will see this happen sooner rather than laterIf mews wants out then as soon as you get a good deal trade him. Others may know more but I can see it could affect the dressing room. Also this year has been strange with a lot of deadline deals being made now.
I agree with this - I think it is the smartest play if there is fire behind all the smoke surrounding Mews. If we can get good returns for Mews and Pinelli and fix our OA situation somehow, it could set us up well heading into the next couple years.in my opinion what they should do regarding mews, pinelli and foster they should trade mews at the deadline for an 08 and picks, pinelli for picks and keep foster- he may be back next year anyways.
I like Mews but I do think he hasn’t looked completely invested this year. I was hoping he’d come back from the draft and Calgary’s camp fired up and ready to dig in and commit to growth - instead he has looked blassé out there. I’m not suggesting he’s not working hard (effort can be tough to evaluate without being with the team through all phases of preparation and practice as well), but it certainly doesn’t look like he is really buckling down right now…I’ve never been a fan of Mews. I don’t like his style of game. I won’t be unhappy if he is traded. He is a valuable player so whatever the return ends up being is going to be fine with me.

The worst virus in the CHL is draftitis. It comes in the form of a player thinking he made it and has no worries. We have seen some great talent blow themselves in the head Kingston has had a few Hughes moon ottawa has had them also bell.and now mews. Usually a good coach can wake them up unfortunately DC does not have mews respect.I like Mews but I do think he hasn’t looked completely invested this year. 1 and 3, to me, are joined at the hip. If we get rid of Mews, we are going to need Horner to stay on defence.DC on tsn 1200 said Dietsch is back this weekend. Good news as it increases our D depth. Wonder if a few dominoes will fall.
1-Horner back to forward full time I hope
2- Closure for Sirman one way or the other?
3- Mews???
I still think Horner will be mostly at forward. Let's say Mews/Sirman are gone. We're left with:1 and 3, to me, are joined at the hip. If we get rid of Mews, we are going to need Horner to stay on defence.
Sirman has to go sorry but he seems to be the odd man out let's wave him and let him go play elsewhere
Dietsch is still going to need time. He is still a rookie as he never got the ice time last year.
I still think the sooner we can get rid of Mews, the better. Even if it does hurt us a bit on defence, it will help us with the rest of the team.
The challenge with this plan can be argued in three letters: F L U. Also, you cannot play with just 6 D.I still think Horner will be mostly at forward. Let's say Mews/Sirman are gone. We're left with:
Mayich/Esh
Marelli/Brady
Dietsch
I expect a D to come back in a Mews trade. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Boyd acquires a cheap D to bolster the defence with the return for Mews.
