Yeah, my problem is not so much with Mayer, but he needs to have an RD that is an RD. I think they need to play mayve move horner back on D next game until Mayich comes back

Lots of inexplicable personnel decisions at this level.

It defies logic as to why Oshawa would suddenly decide to bench Ethan Toms, a second year player who’s been a dependable bottom six forward this year and insert a rookie Harrison Franssen who’s played a grand total of TWO (2) games in the OHL. Makes ZERO sense. Both players were drafted in 2022 - - Toms in the 4th round Franssen in the 9th. Franssen couldn’t get in the line up last year or this year but now he’s good to go in the middle of a playoff run? If they want to change it up from Toms, then Pylypuik or Heins would be a much more logical choice as they’ve both played far more games this year than Franssen.

Toms has had a really tough season, starting with the horrific injury when his face was gashed by a skate for over 100 stitches. When he told me he was a healthy scratch during the Barrie series, I felt badly for him considering what he’s been through. Hopefully the brain trust decides to get Toms back into the line up at some point in this series.

Observations regarding the draft, without any knowledge of the draft class prospects....

Only two defencemen picked in the 1st round, and Ottawa got the second one off the board. Di we really get the second best defenceman available?
There seems to have been a really strong run on forwards early in the draft.

Only 1 US born player picked in the first three rounds, is that normal?

I believe Gardiner is being managed because of injury. I don't know if you noticed but he's not taking faceoffs...Barlas is! He was listed as UB when he missed time so I suspect he is not 100%.

I guess we got a defensive LD. He only had four goals in 2 years of U16 hockey and not a lot of assists

one thing about it is that we are getting players that fill the positions we need.

A few comments on the draft. Overall I'm pleased with the haul. Surprised Amidovski made it to eleven. Was a bit surprised with KE at two but the more I find out he seems very talented. He is a RD...always a plus and our scouts obviously love him to reach a bit...time will tell. Then there is the trio of Perrier/vanderberg/ krawchik who were all well regarded. Vanderberg would have gone higher if not for tender in USHL. I think Bonoma is a project we see maybe in 2 years?? There was the usual flyers on a few high end americans that almost never come. ( Barnett,brother of the one last year, and Zajic who are both usntdp bound). Now two interesting late picks. First is Jay-Zeus Mbarushimana...now come on this kid should make the team on name alone! Second is our last pick Spencer Bowes who's actually an 07. Finished second in scoring in EOJHL as a rookie! He's tiny though so never know wigh a growth spurt.

any word on your goalies status? I sit behind the attacking net and when he did the splits, he was visibly in pain. didn't want to get off his knees the following play and was labored going to the bench when they pulled the goalie.

Hopefully his pulled the muscle and didn't tear it.

does he have a history of groin injuries?

No news and yes has a history. When healthy he's a stellar goalie but health has been an issue.

4th line not playing much anyway. But yeah. I think that line was better with Yanni compared to with Gardiner now. Might as well play the healthy guy. Cameron probably just wants an additional vet out there though.
