Kressler with Foster and Korbler, Maillet with Pinelli and Dever tonight. What do we think about Cameron shuffling his lines with three games remaining in the regular season?

Vs Peterborough. If you are going to do it, do it in the game that is meaningless to see if there will be any traction.

BUT BUT BUT… As I have said a few times before, Korbler is only meaningful again the weaker teams. He needs to be on the 4th line in the playoffs. Scale back to a mostly three line team and pull Barlas up on the wing ANYWHERE.

Mississauga wins as expected tonight but they needed late game comeback to pull it out! That gives Mississauga 84 points so they are now out of reach for the 67’s.

There are a lot of scenario’s for the playoffs still BUT, it is starting to look more and more like Ottawa vs Brantford. If Ottawa beats Brantford and Oshawa beats Sudbury, that likely sets up a 4v5 series for the 67’s and the Bulldogs. If Ottawa loses to Brantford, then it is likely Brantford moves tot he #3 seed and Ottawa goes to the #6 seed and AGAIN it sets up a 67’s vs Bulldogs with a 3v6 series matchup.

There are some scenario’s depending on what happens with Mississauga and North Bay tomorrow night. If North bay wins, they likely win the Central leaving Mississauga with 84 points to complete their schedule. If that happens, it opens the door for Brantford to pass them but AGAIN it likely means they beat the 67’s to finish 3rd meaning a 6 vs 3 series with Ottawa and Brantford.

Mississauga was lucky tonight
I tried to catch some of that game tonight. I saw the first half of the 3rd and there were spurts where Mississauga started to come on and it looked like there was a momentum change. When I saw that and then Robertson went down with what looked like a groin injury, I wasn’t sure the Ice Dogs were going to hold on. Sure enough…

I ran a bunch of scenario’s to see who we likely play.

Assumptions:
1> Ottawa wins vs Kingston
2> Sudbury wins vs Barrie and Niagara
3> North Bay wins vs Peterborough
4> Brantford wins vs Kingston

Scenario #1 - Oshawa wins Division
Oshawa 87 or 89
North Bay 85 or 87
Mississauga 84 or 86
Brantford 84 or 86
Sudbury 83
Ottawa 81 or 83

In this scenario, it really doesn’t matter the outcome of Missy v North Bay. Each of those teams would hold a tie breaker with Brantford making Brantford either 3rd or 4th depending on the result vs Ottawa on Sunday. Ottawa wins vs Brantford and it sets up a 4 v 5 matchup and if Ottawa loses, it sets up a 3 v 6 matchup, both with Brantford

Scenario #2 - Brantford wins the division
North Bay 85 or 87
Mississauga 84 or 86
Brantford 86
Sudbury 85
Oshawa 85
Ottawa 81

Here is where it gets interesting. For this to happen, Oshawa needs to lose v Kitchener and Brantford. This propels Brantford to the division win. If NB beats Missy, then NB wins the conference with 87, then Brantford with 86. You have your #1 and #2 seeds. Then it is a tie breaker between Sudbury and OShawa which Sudbury wins. That sets up a 3 v 6 series with Sudbury.

If Mississauga beats North Bay, then Missy and Brantford take the top two seeds. Then it is a three way tie with 85 points and it goes to a complex tie-breaker scenario. Oshawa slides all the way down to 5th. North Bay takes the 3rd seed and Sudbury the 4th seed. This sets up a 3 v 6 with North Bay

So, I think this really comes down to Oshawa winning the division. IF they do, and they very likely will, it sets up the most likely scenarios that result in a series vs Brantford. Of course, there could be the addition of loser points because of three point games and there could be a weaker team upsetting a stronger team. A three point game tomorrow with North Bay and Mississauga would make things interesting to say the least.

I see the next two games as very important to build chemistry/confidence/ momentum. Kingston has owned us this year we need to beat them. A win against Brantford is also a statement we need to make. If we win those two games I'll be more confident going into the playoffs.

I think tonight will be pending how Macker plays,
Kingston is on fresh legs tonight where Ottawa went through a bit of a war with Peterborough last night. -Yes Ottawa dominated but there was a physical element to the game where the Pete's pulled Ottawa into a bit of a war last night.

I think Ottawa will be motivated tonight. I am not too sure how motivated Kingston will be considering they finish 7th no matter what happens. I could see the possibility where the score may get away from Kingston early, especially if Mann is rolling 4 lines and not trying to line match in an effort to be fresh for playoffs.

Lineup changes for Ottawa tonight:

Barlas and Korbler out. Korbler took that big hit last night. Barlas likely out with a 2 game suspension for his 4th fight.

Hilton and Dietsch in the lineup as replacements. Looks like Ottawa will roll three lines and sub in a forward on the 4th line here and there. Seven D-Men dressed.

I would love to see Yanni Whitehead and Korbler play as a line. I think next year they could be good together. If they can work, imagine what they will be like in 2 years.

Hilton is draft-listed; therefore, scouts must see something other than just his size. He should be an important part of the team once he gets used to his body.

Dietsch will be a star unfortunately he is LD so he will be behind Mayich and Marelli

2-2 after 3

Overtime

Mackenzie played first 2 periods Michelone in for the 3rd

Brantford Ottawa

This is going to be interesting

If I was Miss I would not be comfortable

Tough way to lose last night. Can’t really fault the effort. Hopefully MacKenzie is good to go for the playoffs.

Meh. Poor first period. Solid second and third. Solid OT. Vaccari and the posts played well last night and it was easily the difference in the game. Michelone with a terrible goal in OT.

I still think there is a great chance we see the wolves in the first round

Oshawa 87
Northbay 87
Sudbury 85
Mississauga 84
Brantford 84
Ottawa 82

Oshawa (1) VS Barrie (8)
NB (2) VS Kingston (7)
Sudbury (3) VS Ottawa (6)
Miss (4) VS Brantford (5)

Oshawa has clinched they will rest guys Sunday in there final game VS the Wolves. & the Wolves should beat NIA with ease this evening. Witch means Ottawa or Kingston only has to take a point from Brantford in there final two games

UPDATED PLAYOFF SCENARIOS

Brantford - Kingston & Ottawa
Sudbury - Niagara & Oshawa

Mississauga holds the tie-breaker over Brantford.

Sudbury is VERY likely to beat Niagara to go into Sunday’s game with 83 points. Sudbury holds the tie-breaker vs Mississauga. Sudbury would hold the tie-breaker over Brantford as well.

Ottawa is VERY unlikely to make it out of 6th place. There are only two scenarios where Ottawa gets out of 6th place. Ottawa needs to beat Brantford on Sunday afternoon PLUS either Sudbury loses both of its games and/or Brantford loses to Kingston tonight. I cannot see Sudbury losing tonight to Niagara.

I highly doubt Ottawa gets out of 6th so, the most likely scenario for the playoff matchup comes down to one game, the Ottawa vs Brantford game. If Ottawa loses, they likely play Brantford. If Ottawa wins, they likely play Mississauga or Sudbury BUT Sudbury needs a point in the Oshawa game.

Predicted standings:
Oshawa 89
North Bay 87
Mississauga 84
Brantford 84
Sudbury 83
Ottawa 82
***Sets up an Ottawa vs Mississauga round one.
