I remember 1977, when the Rat hoofed Geiger in the face. I was 6 rows up and, when it happened, it was one of those "did I really see that" moments.
Ken Linsemen? Yup but was quite young then but I do remember taking the fan bus to Kingston in the early 80's to watch the 67's play the Canadians. Mike Moffat was in nets for Kingston and the 67's won 9-1! Unfortunately Bernie Nicholls lead Kingston to victory in game 7 in Ottawa. The 67's scored to tie the game with a minute left but the goal was disallowed. . 10,000 fans pelted the ice with debris causing a lengthy delay lol.
Yeah, that was 1980-81. Jim Lever was the ref and the puck came out from behind the net, under Moffat's glove, but he never stopped it. Mario Cerri put it in. "Quick Whistle" Lever said that he blew it dead. He usually wore his helmet far too tight. It was a terrible call.
That was Doug. He is long gone now. No idea what his full name was, but he used to stand up and go down the stairs, to be better heard.Lever and Wilsie were always hot garbage.

Playoffs are a crap shoot. Injuries, a hot goalie, a cold goalie, distracted players, a pandemic. All can favour one team over another. I just enjoy the ride, as long as it lasts.
If I recall correctly, the eastern conference was particularly weak that year. Petes - ‘67s seemed inevitable. The 2nd seeded Wolves finished 10-11 in league standings and goal differential.
The Petes played very disciplined hockey in the first round. They didn’t take many penalties against Sudbury. In my opinion they are playing their best hockey of the season.
I really cannot put much faith in what he says about injuries. Morrison was "ready to go" and missed 4 more games. Those guys would help a great deal, but we may have to start with the current group.
It would not surprise me to see Tolnai sit out game 1. If there are any issues with him it is best to give him as much time. Same with Barlas. The third line is doing ok So if he can get a few more days on the bench then it is better. Then again both of these guys could dress and just get spot time on the ice.

Ya the Petes would be a very good opponent too for the 67's. Would be a long series but I hope we get a chance to play Barrie as I am fairly close to their arena. North Bay is a bite of a hike for me lol
Game 7 in Ottawa was standing room only. My Dad managed to grab tickets in section 20 and all I remember was that there was a disallowed goal and the place went absolutely apeshit. The fans chanted "bullshit" for about 10 minutes while the Lansdowne crewed cleaned up the ice lol. Also Kingston was the first road game I ever saw away from the Civic Centre so it was alway fun to play against them. But they never really stirred my crank Like the hated Generals did back then. We always used to beat them so it was so sweet when Ottawa won lol
There were some great rivalries in the old Leyden Division in the 1980s and early 1990s. Peterborough’s main rivalry was with Oshawa. It was really strong when Dick Todd coached the Petes and Paul Theriault coached the Generals. There were were many fights in their games including several bench clearing brawls between the two. I use go to the Petes games in Oshawa in the late 1980s and early 1990s and would get into many verbal exchanges with the Generals fans. The Petes also had rivalries with Belleville and Cornwall. The Cornwall fans were an experience. There was a respectful rivalry between Ottawa and Peterborough but is was always civilized. The most interesting part of that rivalry was the Peterborough connection on the 67s. Ottawa goaltender Scott Cumming was from Peterborough and in 1986-1987 season two former Petes John Hanna and Brent Battiselli played for the 67s. All got a rough ride in Peterborough. I always enjoyed watching games in Ottawa and got along well with the fans. The rivalry with Kingston was not as strong until Peterborough businessman, Lou Kazowski bought the team and he made some less than kind remarks about the Petes. There had been a rivalry with the Toronto Marlies but it was not a strong in the late 1980s
