Goaltending??? Goaltending at the present time is not even adequate. Teams have figured Cranley out and they now target his weaknesses. Mackenzie has not been great when called upon.

Patrick Leaver saved the game for the Gens with like 32 saves in a row. A semblance of this and we would of won.

Good to see Foster & Dever they looked okay.

Cranley seems to give a lot of rebounds that means that the defence needs to be able to clear them or he needs to learn to contain them better. 1 goal every 5 shots is not going to make it happen.

Are Gill-Shane and Johnston hurt? With a full line up this team could use a veteran top 6 forward and a top pairing defenseman if they want to make an impact in playoffs. Some solid pieces though and lots of returning players next year. I really like Stonehouse’s game. An annoying gritty player with speed and some skill.

Wasn't TJ suspended 3 games for the slew foot last Sunday in Oshawa? Should be in the lineup today...

Max Donoso makes his 1st start of the season, down 2-0 to the Petes after 1

When you are keeping a team to under 30 shots a game and you lose it is not the fault of the defence.

Ottawa clearly needs a goalie that they can depend on and I am not sure that any of the ones we have are in that category.

That is probably why we saw donoso. The 3rd Petes goal you could not blame on him it was a good pass with a quick release.

We knew that this team was a mid card team at the beginning of the year. We all talked about the fact that there was not a lot of offensive power up from for scoring goals.

Yet they are getting lots of shots.

Is this team a contender NO not now
It is a team that is trying to find itself.
It is a team that next year if the goaltending holds up will be a good team.
Every team in the OHL has a bad(rebuild) year.
It has been a while since we had one in Ottawa.
Let's wait and see what happens

Geez beast where do I start? C'mon man we are a young team missing 6 players and we get 3/6 points on a stupid scheduling weekend. The two games we lost by 1 goal! Is our goaltending stellar...no but it's ok. A bad rebuild? Are you jiving me? We are 11-9-2 as the second youngest team in the league. Once we get guys back we'll be fine. The only thing I agree with you is we will be very good the next two years. Beast you were a Frontenac fan for a while I believe, maybe why you look at the glass half empty. Bottom line this team has so far exceeded expectations...enjoy it!

Sirius, I never said we had a bad team. I think we have a good team.; As I said earlier this year the is a team that is going to surprise and make life difficult for a lot of people later in the year.

However, as much as I like the start I really do not see t his team as a top 5 team.

Ottawa needs to look at what we have and remember that it is a building year.

I was a fronts fan in the '70s and '80s. After the birth of the Beast in 92 the beast has only been a 67 fan even when I lived in Kingston.

I also agree we are exceeding expectations.

We have a good returning cast next year. This year instead of trading to make us a contender we need to build leadership and consistency.

As to goalies, we are mid-pack not great.

Has anyone realistically actually predicted or called Ottawa a top 5 team though? They’re a well coached team with some serious young skill. Fun team to watch most nights

I would not be opposed to Donoso minding the net tonight. He only really gave up 2 goals against the Pete's as Sawyer scored the other one. Cranley is like a rebounding machine and even the announcers were mentioning his problems in practice. These rebounds cause a lot of havoc for the defense.

Next year we should be a lot better overall but I think we will have to address the goaltending situation. We need a capable #1 goalie.

When the team is outplayed and loses a 6-1 hockey game to the worst team in the conference there is lots of blame to go around. As a team they have a lot to work on right now, and we are seeing the full effect of a team with no OA's and playing without 3 of their better players (Beck, Robinson and Johnston).

Sure they need to work on a lot of things, but give Donoso a few games and see if their is true value here.

Beck's injury seems like a mystery, Robinson makes stupid decisions which hurt the team and Johnston is okay.

The 2 OA spots they have could really help this young team if they were filled with the right people.

I agree that the right OA would be a benefit BUT the problem is that no one is really eliminated form the playoffs yet almost everyone has a chance therefore no one is going to be getting rid of any players

Much improved tonight and Donoso was great. We have scored 4 goals total in the last 3 games. Since Gaidamak, Rohrer and Tolnai are not putting up points we are in big trouble.

Hopefully a couple of OAs will become available that can help this team.
