It will be interesting to see what they do. The only problem is if we decide to go with MacKenzie, the odds of us doing anything other than sending Donoso down to JrA is remote. I don’t think we’d be able to trade him and get anything back.

I think the best thing to do at this point would be to keep all three goalies and try to see what we can do about getting Donoso up to speed. I assume he will get the net for our next exhibition game but I am not sure that one game is really enough to decide his future. He is 18 so this year needs to be a year for him to at least be a bonafide backup.

The goal, in my mind, would be to get Cranley a lot of early games and boost his trade value. Then look at the possibility of offering him up if there is a decent return available. We would then revert to Donoso and MacKenzie as a platoon situation and get both of them prepared for a more pivotal year next season.

If Belanger did not have bad luck he would have no luck at all.

Looking at the NHL it looks like Rossi and Sasha will be the only ones to make their team.

Quinn, no surprise is going to the A

Bahl, Clarke and Nikita will get a chance to show themselves in the A.

Hoefenmayer and Hoelscher are unknowns

That was such an incredible team to follow. I miss those guys!

With Belanger out so long, this may be the type of injury replacement that would benefit from an OA acquisition. Nothing major but someone with decent experience that can log responsible minutes.

That would be one approach and it's certainly defensible. On the other hand I think a top four of Costantini, Matier, Gill-Shane and Sawyer can likely tide us over untill Belly is back. If this was a contending year I would get an OA but this year I'd lean to give our 18 y.o. the icetime with next year in mind unless they really wet the bed in the early going.

We need to be able to protect the minutes of the rookies better. We are likely to have other little injuries and suspensions over the course of the next 3 months. I wouldn’t go too deep into the rookies and put them in bad spots where they fail.

This team would benefit from a little more veteran leadership in general. Tolnai is the second oldest player on the team.

Tough injury for sure. Belanger would have been in for big minutes. Now you will have Matier, Gill-Shane, Sawyer and Constantini playing between 18-24 minutes for sure. Some may ever near 25-26 minutes a game. I think they will be fine. Good teams will always find a way. There’s lot of guys with the ability to step it up when needed.

Kingston is probably one of the top teams as long as the owner does not screw it up with stupid trades.

They have probably the top line in the OHL along with a great goalie.

Ludwinski looks like he is going to be good.

As we have said earlier this is not a team that is going to be the best in the league it is a rebuilding/retooling year for us

Replacing Belanger at this time is not necessary we have a top 4 that can hold us and if you bring insomeone what do you do when Belanger comes back?

What do you do when your remaining top 4 become a top 2 with injuries etc? How do you develop when you are playing in your own zone for 45 minutes per game?

We aren’t talking about trading anything more than a 4th round pick for an OA D-Man when you have two OA spots open. Hell, you can ship that OA out at the deadline if/when you are satisfied that the defense is in good shape for the back half of the season.

Yeah I hear that and it makes sense.

Is it my imagination or are teams playing a lot of 3 games in 60 hours this year.

By design. The league was trying to reduce travel costs to help teams mend their bottom line.

Not much of a change for teams like Ottawa and SSM though. Our teams have had a lot of those in the past.

I remember the 4 in4 trip:
Thursday Windsor
Friday Detroit-Plymouth
Saturday Sarnia
Sunday London
