Yeah Norris real dollars for the next few years is 9.5 million, which I’m sure played a part in wanting to move him.

Buffalo gave a 2nd because Norris is still the more polished, reliable, and responsible player.
Cozens has been good, but let's see how he deals with the lows. With Norris you mostly knew what you were going to get, for better or worse.
Ottawa fans especially can appreciate how different players can look due to the team environment. The last 4 years really taught us that even our best players (Brady, Chabot, Stutzle, etc) can look absolutely garbage when the team isn't built well or coaches well.
Still remember everyone wanting to dump Chabot last year, who looked broken at times and probably had like 5+ turnover leading directly to game winners.

You don't understand my argument. I was responding to a post saying that Cozens has a higher ceiling which he hasn't shown yet based on his WJC performance. Of all the guys you listed only Tavares and Nuge have had a higher peak than Cozens so far (statistically). Cozens is actually pretty much on his way to have a career similar to that of Eberle some years a top 9 player, some years a first line player. But mostly uneven with highs and lows. Schenn has been a more consistent player but even his offensive peak is not much higher than Cozens' 68 point season. So yeah your post supports what I said. Cozens' WJC performance does not indicater a higher ceiling than what he has shown so far.
Disagree, his top ten draft pedigree and his crazy performance at the Juniors do indicate a higher ceiling than a guy who was only expected to be a nice 3C when he was traded, post being drafted in the latter half of the first round. Buffoon was right and your argument was not on very solid ground imo
Seems like everyone on Buffalo needed a change.
When O'Reilly left he had almost 20 point increase and won the Selke and Conn Smythe following year.
When Reinhart left he had 20 point increase in projected scoring and was over PPG first time in his career.
It's a trend many are familiar with, unfortunately.
I mean... Cozens was finishing 1st among all forwards in goals in two WC's in a row and was among the best players period. In fact, he's been among the best players just about everywhere EXCEPT Buffalo... even then he scored 30+ goals and nearly 70 points.
Cozens has been good for us but his 4 game stretch is possibly still average Norris in my opinion. He has a some way to go to hit Norris level for on ice impact and his ceiling may never be as good as Norris'. Time will tell. I'm excited but will reserve gloating and celebrating until he plays a solid full 82 game season.
