I think Lincoln Reilly's philosophy is exactly what Baker Mayfield said it was, "to just outscore people", as someone else said in this thread his defenses for the most part have always been pretty poor. I think this is reflective in everything about his teams, you are right, there isn't a ton of talent, but there is also enough talent where you don't look like Vanderbilt or Northwestern on defense.

Grinch has certainly been handed the keys to the defenses at some blue blood programs (OSU, USC, OU) and I would say the results have certainly been pretty lacking. I do wonder if USC has issues evaluating defensive talent also, I look at one of our best players, Mason Graham who is playing at an All-American level as a soph, after being really good as a freshman. This is an OC kid who was a star football player and wrestler at Servite and immediately emerged as a difference maker for an elite team and USC barely recruited him. USC just can't let kids like that leave SoCal if they want to get back to being a contender. But that may get back to the lack of any kind of defensive culture/focusing to much attention on recruiting offensive weapons.

I am shocked that Leonard didn't get a job somewhere, my guess is he is going to hope to land a B10 HC job or an NFL DC job. I was surprised he didn't get the UW job, but I think they wanted to change a lot about their program and how they played. Leonard turned down a chance to be DC of the Packers to stay at UW and then was passed over for the fulltime HC job.
If I remember right, Leonard had offseason back surgery so he passed on those offers/interviews. Just couldn't get right in time so he's an analyst at Illinois atm. Agreed on Lincoln which is a big issue. At least initially with Little Stoops the church of Bob wouldn't allow for his firing until it was too late, but the refusal to move on from Grinch is brutal.

With Graham (and pretty much 99% of recruiting issues at the moment), the issue was how pathetic an everything Clay was. I don't believe they really ever recruited him - Lincoln/Grinch tried but it was too late in the process to make it work. And Clay's general passing the blame onto everyone, refusal to make coaches recruit, etc. has majorly affected SoCal recruiting as seen at Mater Dei right now.

Cheating d****uckers.
In 2017, yes. But it's sort of reminiscent of Madison Bumgarner's legendary postseason performances for the Gnats. Wish the Dodgers had some of the character that their worst adversaries are demonstrating. If Kershaw was 1/3 the killer that MadBum was, Dodgers likely have a few titles in the last decade.

I'll be rooting for the Asterisks to lose in humiliating fashion whoever they play, but that clubhouse has far more postseason character than ours.

I went to the Rams game yesterday and it was my first time at So Fi. The building is massive but really nice. I only went because a company invited me to a suite which was also nice. Getting out of there is a complete disaster. $100 for parking so I opted to take Uber there. Coming home the entire section for Uber drivers is clogged by town cars and Suburbans that were looking for $300+ for a ride anywhere. Even the lone yellow cab wouldn't take my credit card. It seemed like some plain clothed guy was dictating which black market taxis could park there and get rides. He got in a shouting match with a drive who eventually left. I eventually got an Uber about a half mile away. I don't get how any person with median income could justify the expense of going to a game there. Oh and they blast music loud as hell even an hour before the game. It was hard to have a conversation with a person sitting right next to you. Get off my lawn!

I've been to Who concerts. I know loud. The shit pumped through the PA at Sofi is obnoxiously loud and annoying, especially whose house?

you hate to blame the kicker, but after the missed field goal, the Steelers have taken control. Steelers had nothing going . Terrible 4th quarter

edit: Mcvay burns his last TO too early and needed it to challenge a 4th and 1 stop. Steeler win
24-17

The kicker is already cleaning out his locker after missing 2 fg and 1 extra point
