I cant see the Broncos having a better year next or anytime soon really with limit cap and draft capital they are truly in purgatory

on O they need:
QB
2-3 WRs
Tight End

On D
High end Edge Rush
a safety or two

maybe LB DL and CB
This is the entire defense.

And you're not wrong, either. They really do need upgrading just about everywhere.

How would ya’ll feel about a package of our first + Simmons/Surtain/Jeudy to move up for one of the top 3-4 QBs? Possibly have to include extra picks or pick swaps there.

I’m not advocating for this - just wonder what the pulse of the fanbase would be.
If they did that, they'd be looking at a scenario where (aside from that newly drafted QB), they would have zero players drafted in the top 60 players in a draft - for THREE consecutive drafts (they have no 2nd round pick this year).

If they had to do what Carolina had to do to move up last year, it'll cost them next year's 1st round pick also. Four straight years without a 1st round pick? That young QB would walk onto the field with a bunch of scarecrows.

The Broncos are really in a pickle. They're not in a draft position to get a young stud QB, they don't have assets to move (either players or picks), the cubbard is pretty bare. And, they weren't very good this season. They need players, not just at QB.

I suspect it's more likely they trade down for 2/3 extra picks in the 2nd round. If the QB they really want falls to them, maybe not. It's just hard for me to imagine a scenario where they weaken an already weak roster to go get a QB, and don't draft a single player until the 80th pick or something.

The past has shown us that it takes two first round draft picks to move up in the draft. Surtain is the only one that has any sort of value near a first-round draft pick and I think his stock dropped a little this season. I'm not really sold on many of these QBs. If Bo Nix is really going to drop to the second round, I say just take a flyer on him. We just have too many needs on defense right now. Our defensive line is doing a terrible job getting pressure. They're not bad at getting some sacks, but they just can't sustain pressure all the time. Quarterbacks are giving way too much time to look and throw down field. Our interior pressure is very very bad.
Surtain would bring back a 1st +. They shouldn't move him though. 23 year old quality player on a rookie contract.

Other tradeable assets include Simmons and Sutton. 1 and 2 years left on their current contracts, not massively expensive, still good players. They are 30 and approaching 30 though. The Broncos might get a 2nd and a 3rd for those two guys. Maybe.

From my view the Avs in this draft leave a lot to be desired

Nope, those are day 3 picks if traded. Teams don't pay much draft capital for guys on full priced contracts unless they are elite at premium positions.

Trading in the first two rounds is just way too expensive. If anything Broncos should consider trading down just a bit to add some capital.

Michigan clearly was the best team and really was for the whole season. Dominate performance tonight.

You may be right. They're in a tough spot.

Penix is gonna drop drop drop after tonight.
NFL scouts are no dummies, they didn't rate him as high as Joe Public did after one widely watched game. I think he's a good pick in the 2nd round for someone who waits. Has a lot of good qualities and likely can be a decent NFL QB in the right spot. Not worth a reach because his ceiling isn't as high as others. Being older he also makes sense on the shorter deal, he will either make it or won't in a year or two.

I didn't like at all how Penix just kinda looked ho-hum in the 4th quarter.....Down by 14 with 5 mins to go and he was full on deer in the headlights with zero urgency. I was impressed with his arm strength though - he's got an absolute cannon.

McCarthy just reminds me of Daniel Jones

Thats a good one. A deluxe game manager. Hard to say how good his passing game is when he has a running game gashing the opponent and then goes play action. Maybe I'm biased having watched him more but id definitely take Bo Nix before McCarthy.

I don't know who the Broncos' next QB is going to be but one thing I know for sure is that I'd like him to be as good at playing QB as travis kelce is a douchebag.

(I think that would make him the greatest QB of all-time)

Nick Saban, Alabama, retires.

Not super surprised. A lot of these coaches can't stand the transfer portal and don't want deal with it.

Not sure what idiot would take the Alabama job. Almost impossible to live up to expectations.

I don’t know if it can be pinned down to just the transfer portal… Saban is also old af and accomplished just about everything.

I feel like it would be either Lanning or Lane. 100% believe Lane didn’t take the Auburn job last year because he wanted the Bama job

Probably not, but there are a lot of reports that these older more established coaches hate it with a passion.

Wouldn't be shocked if it had something to do with it.

I’m sure there are a lot of factors, but Bama took advantage of it as much as anybody. The whole thing is changing, he’s old, Kirby is taking over the SEC… just might be a good time.

What a GREAT DAY. They can’t do better than Saban and have already dropped one of their top recruits. Time to raid. War damn eagle.
