Gonna need to trade up to get a QB, IF we are looking for a rookie.

Cards or Commanders would probably be the target.

How tho?
Going up 10 spots to grab a Maye will take multiple firsts no?
This team has so many holes to fill.
What if we suck next year like Carolina did this year? we are giving Washington a 4th or 5th overall pick as well? That is a tough call.

Yeah, I'm not advocating for them to do it, I'm just saying, all 4 QB targets have the potential to be gone by the 12th pick. Especially if Penix Jr. wins the NC tomorrow, and looks good doing it.

Okay. One more embarrassing failure. But that’s fine so long as they f***ing nail it from the draft on forward.
I feel like Patons been pretty decent running the drafts. Haven't had a ton of picks, but there have been some decent picks from all over the draft so far.

I'd probably take a break from the Broncos if they draft Penix.

He's literally a walking injury, when NFL teams get ahold of the medicals his draft stock will plummet. I won't be shocked if he drops to the 4th round or later. Guys with two ACL tears and a major shoulder injury typically don't get drafted highly even if they are talented.

Call me crazy but I’d like the Broncos to trade down and get Nix. He’s probably gonna be available in the 20s and we need to collect some picks.

Agreed. The roster is suffering from reduced picks, doesn't do any good to reach and have the QB you want playing with a lousy roster. Someone will fall to the Broncos and they can take him knowing they don't need to rush them.

Long way to speculate but someone will fall. It's so crazy all the articles that will be written about this guy or that guy causing draft stocks to change but nothing really happens between now and then. Combine can't be that important and teams can get fooled watching workouts.

I don't love Nix. Good college QB but whenever I watch him I feel like he's doesn't go through his progressions well which won't translate well to the NFL.

Jameis is going to be the Broncos starter at QB in 2024.
If that’s the case I’m going to be pretty…

It's that really an upgrade? Doesn't seem like a Payton QB, has too much confidence and makes mistakes because of it. Stidham at least tried to work the system and made some good throws but no consistency. He's best a backup but we'll see, he might have to keep the spot warm.

If the NFLPA seriously sues Denver and the NFL for benching Russ this is gonna be downright hilarious given we won with Stidham
Suing because he sucks and lost his job… I’m sorry but that’d be pathetic

I get the disappointment but what do you expect from a team that trusted the keys to the kingdom on a washed QB.

And has traded away basically every good draft pick for the last 5 years. And when they do draft, they draft poorly.

They have an incompetent GM and an incompetent QB and severely lack talent at most positions on the field. It's tough to win like that. Honestly I'm surprised they've even gotten to 8-8 I was expecting more of 4-5 win season at tops.

We are lucky Payton is a good enough coach that he realized our deficiencies and dumbed down the playbook to high school levels and was able to make something work so we weren't the laughing stock of the league.

They have no case, he won 11 out of 30 starts. He can't make any argument that can change that fact. Most guys who have stats like that don't get 30 starts before they are benched.
Wouldn’t it be unprecedented if a guy suing because he lost the starting gig… I’ve never even heard of such a thing.

I hate George Paton.
I hate Sean Payton.

I hate that the future of our franchise rests in the hands of these unaccountable clownshoes idiots.

I don't know what Stidham can really do.

First game he had no weapons to throw to. Except Jeudy who we know kind of sucks.

Second game the entire team other than Stidham quit, because they didn't give a shit.

So I really don't know much about Stidham. Not really sure I want to give him the keys. But he'd be an upgrade over Mr. let's ride. Simply for the fact he only makes 5M and gets the basic same results.

Not really sure what the play will be here next year. Draft is risky at 12. You aren't going to get Williams or Maye or Daniels. Then you have Penix, who is a walking injury and will probably break in the NFL where big fast 300lbs guys are constantly chasing you. Nix who is not going to be anything more than NFL average QB at best IMO, and McCarthy who is the best option in this bunch. But drafting him at 12 would be pushing it. Plus he's a project who wouldn't start next year. But he does play the type of game Payton likes.

Then there is the castoff UFA group, not sure I'd really want to go this route we've tried this for years and it doesn't work.

My guess is that we'll run Stidham and someone we draft that Payton can work with.

Whoever is under center next year ain’t gonna matter. It’s gonna be brutal. But it’s time to finally pay the piper after years of “we are only a QB away”.

The only way I can see us accelerating this thing is to fire sale everybody, possibly including Surtain. There’s not many guys on this roster I’d deem untouchable. Maybe Mims, Locke, Mienerz, and a few others who actually produce on rookie/min deals. Anyone with a cap hit over $1.5M should be shopped.

I'd be incredibly hesitant on Surtain. Like #1 pick only type deal.

But agree here, everyone should be shopped and a good portion of the vet core, cough cough Simmons, Jeudy should be gone.

Isn't Simmons in the last year of his contract? Or does he have one more year?

Jeudy sucks at football, and his head isn't screwed on straight.. I believe he's slated to make $13M next season, if he stays. Don't believe he has much trade value though.

Broncos are in a tough spot. Looks like they don't have a starting QB. And while the #12 pick is solid, the good QBs are usually gone by then. They have no 2nd round pick. They don't have a ton of cap space (right now). And most of all, they have a lot of mediocre players at most positions.

Ugly business.

I cant see the Broncos having a better year next or anytime soon really with limit cap and draft capital they are truly in purgatory

on O they need:
QB
2-3 WRs
Tight End

On D
High end Edge Rush
a safety or two
maybe LB DL and CB

They are kind of f***ed, which is why I'm surprised that GM Paton gets to keep his job. In his short tenure he's really f***ed this franchise long term.

How would ya’ll feel about a package of our first + Simmons/Surtain/Jeudy to move up for one of the top 3-4 QBs? Possibly have to include extra picks or pick swaps there.

I’m not advocating for this - just wonder what the pulse of the fanbase would be.

The past has shown us that it takes two first round draft picks to move up in the draft. Surtain is the only one that has any sort of value near a first-round draft pick and I think his stock dropped a little this season. I'm not really sold on many of these QBs. If Bo Nix is really going to drop to the second round, I say just take a flyer on him. We just have too many needs on defense right now. Our defensive line is doing a terrible job getting pressure. They're not bad at getting some sacks, but they just can't sustain pressure all the time. Quarterbacks are giving way too much time to look and throw down field. Our interior pressure is very very bad.

I’m not sold on them either. I think we could include multiple players and picks to get up to the top 3-8ish but I think it takes Surtain, possibly a couple more players plus pick swaps. Carolina sent Chicago a ton of picks plus Moore last year. I don’t think we need to go to #1 but I think we could do something similar and get up pretty high.

After thinking about it a bit though - I’m becoming less sold on getting a QB this year. I think next years gonna be for sure worse than this one was, giving us a higher draft pick and we would have a little more draft ammo. I also have began starting thinking that if we did draft a QB this year he’d have a David Carr type introduction to the NFL where despite any talent the guy might have, he’s gonna get killed in the pocket and ruin any shred of potential that is there.
