When I watch them play, I really don't know how they have so many wins. I just can't wrap my head around them. I wanna call them paper tigers, but they just keep winning.
Only thing that stops them IMO is the Niners step up and have one of those complete games where you think they have like 15 All-Pro players in the NFC Championship. And then...they go blow the Super Bowl.

He could play better for sure. He did throw a pretty nice pass for the td to Trautman and did scramble for a nice td. Seemed to make some nice adjustments/ Audibles today.
I'm just playing devils advocate. I've been saying all year we need a much better qb than Russ to take it to the next level (i.e. compete with the Ravens/Chiefs of the AFC).
I think they came to the conclusion that Russ is going to play like today going forward and only when they need the hero ball does he go try to do shit. He has put up pretty much the same stats in the other wins up until the point where he's had to go to work, so his numbers got better in a few of the games. But really we don't want him to be throwing 30+ passes out there, that means the team was behind and had to summon him for a comeback.

I took a friend to the game and he asked why Wilson wasn't so great. I told him I think its his size and how that takes away the middle of the field. He didn't know if he agreed until he saw the coin toss and saw how huge/tall McGlinchey is. Realizing Russ is trying to look past him and guys almost as tall as him its obvious the problem. When Russ was faster and more athletic he could roll out of the pocket and not have the issue but Payton's offense isn't really tuned into that. I think it will be though, it has to be. Brees wasn't tall but he worked outside the numbers and short passes to RBs to get around the issue. Russ will never be that kind of passer so its time to rework the playbook some and show some new wrinkles.

I really think we'll be pleasantly surprised with the offense next year. Who knows if the D can match the offensive growth though. They can't count on 3-5 takeaways a game for long.

Russ is plain bad. Payton did everything in his power to dumb it down, so he could try and salvage this season.

Lucky for him Russ has actually done ok with the really simple shit and isn't turning the ball over so we are getting some wins.

The reality though is we need a much better QB if we ever want to win anything of consequential significance.

I've said it before: Russ just can't lose the Broncos games. That's all Payton is asking of him, and he's thankfully delivering.

It must suck to be a WR in this offense though.

In fairness, 120 passing yards or whatever is a pretty standard stat line against the Browns defense this year. Think they’ve held three teams to under 100.
I'm fairness Russ is toast, lots of missed reads yesterday.

Browns were missing Ward their top cover guy and it was noticable as there were openings Russ just couldn't find them.

Not saying he should of had like 300+ but he sure as shit should have been in the 220 range and should have been able to have a much higher competition percentage.

The only thing Russ is doing well is executing a extremely dumbed down playbook and not turning it over. We gave Tim Tebow shit for this kind of offense, so why is it any different for Russ. In fact we should be drilling Russ because he makes a shitload more money than Tebow ever did.

This year is extremely similar to the Tebow year, lots of close ugly wins, a bad low octane offense that scores just enough and doesn't make many mistakes, and an opportunistic defense that is getting lots of timely turnovers.

I don't know what game you watched to think he was plain bad? He audibled into many big gains all night. The second touch down was all him. Great throw for the third as well. Even the throw before the third touchdown was a good throw to Sutton that he should've caught.

I get that he’s not the Russ of 2016 anymore but he’s been a pretty dang good game managing QB over the last month or so. He’s made some great throws to get some clutch TD’s and has been getting more efficient with his feet. Obviously for 50mil you want more of a game changer at the position but if you take the contract out of it he’s been solid lately.

Amortized over a full season - 3400 yards, 31 TD, 6 int - is a very solid stat line. Sure, I’d like to see another several dozen yards per game in there.

The issue they’re going to have at some point, is that they’re going to fall behind and have to open the offense up to catch up. And that could be ugly - due to Wilson’s loss of long throw ability, and having no speed-scary skill players on the offense who can stretch a defense.

Still, have to give credit. They’re not a contending team, but they’re a far cry from the team that got head stomped by Miami.

His stats are super misleading. He is a game manager at best making a shit load of cash. Payton has done wonders putting him in a position to be successful.

Like you said inevitably they are going to be behind, then what. It's easy to game manage when you are winning or tied but someone will get up on us and Russ can't handle that anymore.

Our games in general have been very misleading and unsustainable. We aren't going to win the turnover battle by 3 or 4 every week. That's the real reason for the winning streak. Don't get me wrong I love seeing us win, but one the turnover margin shifts in the slightest it's going to be much harder to get wins because Russ isn't good enough anymore.

Credit where credit is due: Last Monday they were down 5 to the Vikes at the 2 minute warning, ball just inside the 50 yard line. Russ game managed them to the Red Zone and then hit Sutton for the TD with a big time pass.

I'm supposed to gush over the one or two times he's done anything super successful while the team was trailing late?

The entire time he's been here I can recall 2 times where he put together a late drive from behind. Minnesota and Buffalo this year and Buffalo we lucked out that they had 12 guys on the field.

He's just not that good and if you all ever want to have real success then a new QB is needed.

He's us simply just getting by at this point by managing not to make any huge mistakes. But that dam will burst eventually it always does for game managers.

I'm a CU Buffs fan and saw up close and personal how devastating a bad loss can be going forward. Stanford coming back from 29 at the half wrecked whatever confidence CU had and they were never the same after that.

Similarly, the Broncos could have easily folded the tents after the Miami debacle, but I give Payton credit. They nutted up, put it behind them and figured out a way to play better. Something Prime Time couldn't do.

Better example: 62-36

The Denver Broncos being above .500 and CU losing out was not how I expected this football season to go.
Tough three game road swing coming up with Houston, Sparklers and Detroit. Can’t blame them if the win streak stops.

Yeah and Nurse is a fantastic 2nd par D-man.

The contract means everything in capped leagues.
Of course it matters. I even said as much in post. He's clearly not playing to the value of his contract. But he's playing well as a game manager right now and well enough to get the team wins right now.

One thing is for sure, I'm sick of waiting for Zeke Nnaji. They need to just play DeAndre every night and sit Zeke when everybody is healthy.
