I Don't know basketball all that well, but wouldn't you want to keep him for the playoffs? Or at least trade him for someone that'll help this year? Why trade him for a draft pick?
They supposedly want another defensive forward. However, they have no 1st rounder to deal, and that is what teams at the deadline usually want. So, the 1st they would get for Bones, would likely be spent immediately on a defensive upgrade.

Well better hope he’s the QB whisperer they need likely not getting blue chippers for several more years w the presumed return to the Saints combined w what they gave up for Wilson.

Lol f*** the Broncos. So f***ing stupid.

We suck and don't have enough talent, let's go trade all our valuable draft picks for a coach who only saw success with one of the best QBs of all time, and arguably underachieved with him. And then lets pair him with a primadonna QB that can't make high school level reads and doesn't want to put any effort in anymore because we gave him a free 250M without seeing him take a snap.

This is going to be some funny ass soap opera shit next year.

I dunno, they explored meaningful alternatives (Ryans, Harbaugh) and the doors were slammed in their faces. This was the only option, unless you think they should bring Rosburg back.

It ain't my money, and that first rounder acquired from Miami is not likely going to get an impact player that can help them next year. They made the investment in Russ, may as well do everything possible to try and make it work. If they fail, they fail, but not because they half-assed anything.

First order of business after the ink dries: Fix the goddamn offensive line. No exceptions, pay whatever ya gotta pay (AND FFS do everything you can to bring f***in' Munchak back) and get that line fixed.

Well I'm happy. I'd rather Sean Payton than any of the other names out there. We gave up a 1st and a 2nd, but also got back a 3rd. It's being reported that we're using our 2023 1st rounder in the deal, but Seattle has that. So I'm gonna assume it's the 49ers pick we got from Miami. So basically we traded Chubb and a 2nd for Sean Payton and a 3rd. I like that deal.

You traded a 1st and 2nd for Payton and a 3rd??? You just made one of the absolutely worst trades in NFL history, and instead of riding out the storm, you're gonna double down on it? lol. What drugs are you on? Because whatever they are, they are laced with even more potent drugs. You colossal idiots... You weren't a QB away last season, and you're not a coach away this season...

The Broncos are cute even trying while Mahomes is playing. This was supposed to be Kansas City's down year while they adapted to life without Hill and develop their rookies. Now their in the god damn super bowl.

Good luck, Payton.

It doesn't matter.

It doesn't matter because it's either going to work and the Broncos will become a playoff team or it's going to be a colossal failure and we'll get a very high top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and we'll be able to draft a QB and start fresh.

I for one believe that Hackett was completely incompetent as a head coach and the Broncos will look A TON better next season. I believe that if Jerry Rosburg had been the head coach all season, that the majority of those 1 score games that we lost to start the season would have been wins and Fumble Gordon The Turd would have been cut after week 2 or 3.

Will that mean that they can be right there with the top teams in the AFC? Maybe not but I think they'll be able to make the playoffs and we'll see what happens after that.

In football, if you have an elite franchise QB there is no such thing as a "down year." And Mahomes is currently the best.

The 1st was from the Chubb trade so it's the 30th overall pick this year anyways. Still have the 1st next year and basically moved back a round.

I mean what’s the other option? Hire a a worse coach? Our only hope is getting Russ on track and Payton gives us the best chance at that.

They did everything they could to try and get Harbaugh or Ryans, they talked with both guys at least twice, and there's no way they made a lowball offer. Both guys refused. Pretty sure David Shaw told them no too. Not that I'm really in favor of Paton and this front office, but I'm not sure what else you'd have them do. The only options at this point is either go crawling back to Jerry Rosburg, or this.

And the first rounder is not the Broncos' own pick, it's the one they got in the Chubb trade from Miami, which isn't that impressive. If you want to talk "one of the absolutely worst trades in NFL history" talk about the one that has Seattle in control of the Broncos' original first rounder.

It, as Sethro said, really boils down to trading Chubb (who I don't believe we were going to re-sign as he will cost a lot) and switching a 2nd for a 3rd in next years draft for a coach who has experience and winning pedigree. Let's wait and see

Except Payton is a good enough coach to where we will never get the 1st overall pick that we will desperately need.

So, we will be good enough to not get an elite franchise QB in the draft, but also not even remotely good enough to have a chance at beating Mahomes. I don't see the upside anywhere.

I knew this would be the response. Some Bronco fans are just salty AF. All this nonsense about who they wanted and who turned them down is just noise from media types who exaggerate or make up opinions for people. Now they get the guy many wanted and it's still salty about the compensation or what he can do. Is it any wonder owners and team people pretend to listen to the public but behind closed doors laugh about it and ignore everyone?

I’ll eat my crow and admit I was wrong about the coach, a 1st 2nd 3rd is a tough pill though
