A lot of these contracts are going to be crazy. The cap has went up so much and teams are so much below it like JAX.

I mean to put it into perspective, Kirk Cousins has the highest salary right now of any QB in the league. That's ridiculous but what was an expensive deal in the past pales totally in comparison to what will be the new bar in the next 2-3 years. These new cap rules are heavily weighted in the players favor. You also don't have rookies making $20M per year and instead have 2nd contract guys making that. It's the way it should be honestly.

Yeah the thing about Cousins is that is a franchise tag contract, so fault the league for having such a high number as the "franchise tag" for QBs. If he'd gotten a normal contract he'd be maybe top 10. I'm not so concerned about something like this as it will resolve itself next offseason.

But the real problem lies with teams like Jacksonville because they have **** tons of cap space and there are only a few "elite" level UFAs, so then they end up giving next level down guys, elite level money Which in turn screws up the relative value for the rest of the players.

The Broncos are going to lose some good players, not elite but solid contributors, because teams are just going to throw elite level money at them because they have no one else to give it to. And for the players how can you pass up elite level money? You can't.

I agree that Jacksonville might turn some heads next year. I really like Bortles for some reason.

Jax has always been my "other" team. Looking forward to the AFC South being competitive again. Now only if the AFC East could get their act together.

DMac reporting that the Broncos have had some discussions with SF about Kaepernick. Broncos are supposedly offering a 4th round pick.

Ugh.

Well considering no one likes DMac and he's never broken any story, I highly doubt that he has the inside scoop on something that no one else anywhere in the media is reporting. It's probably more him speculating what will happen if the Broncos lose out on Brock.

Kap could probably do really well in a run based offense that relies on a lot of play action. I know he is unpopular now, but I'd take a chance on him over Brock personally.

We don't want Kap. The guy is not a good football player and has been regressing for a couple years now. I mean he got benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert last year, who came in and played significantly better than Kap was playing.

If we are going to go with someone like that it better be RG3, who wouldn't cost anything to get other than a contract. And RG3 has a much higher upside.

Last year's 49ers were a tire fire in general... I don't think last year is really fair to pin on him. 2 years ago is plenty fair. Kap showed promise under a run heavy system that limited his passing options. With the amount of play action and mid and deep balls that Kubiak wants to run... there are worse options out there than Kap IMO.

I think RG3 would be a better option than Brock as well.

The numbers that are being thrown out on Brock are insane to me. If he craps the bed next year it would be very hard to get from underneath that contract. With RG3 or Kap... the damage could be mitigated.

I'm just not big on Kap, his numbers have realistically been going down since his 2nd season. And his past 2, one of which was under Harbaugh, have been really pedestrian to below average.

There are for sure worse options out there, but he isn't a guy I want to be trading for. Rather sign RG3 and not give up any assets.

Broncos also don't have a tradeable 4th round pick this year.

Yeah, I never said I believed DMac. Just repeating what he was saying on air.

And yeah of the 2 ugly choices...I'd take Kaep over RG3. Niners have been a dumpster fire for 2 years now.

Preference would still be Brock above all. But like I said before, what ever direction they choose or are forced to go in...I trust Elway and Kubes.

I think i'm a bigger fan of trying to run with a different QB. Oz at over 15 million is scary.

I'd rather see them go with Fitz. He was able to get 10 wins on the Jets I think. What a weird QB situation to be in. Can't say i'd want to be Elway right now.

Kaepernick is a dumb, selfish, inconsistent player and he simply isn't accurate with the ball. He's Tebow, except slightly better in all respects.

Shame we couldn't keep Malik. But damn the dude is going to get paid in Jacksonville. I wish him the best of luck.

Everyone's all over the board here on QBs.

Starting to think the best option for the Broncos is to sit on the sidelines and wait for a deal vs get into a bidding war. There's not a huge gap between Fitz, RG3, Kaep and Brock.

I think that's a pretty good call. But I'd be pretty aggressive with RG3, if Brock goes to Houston. We don't want an aging vet like Fitzpatrick we've dealt with aging vet for the past 4 years but it was tolerable because Manning is Manning, Ftizpatrick is not on that level, and the last thing we want to do is be held hostage trying to deal for Kap because we have no other options because we waited too long.

I will say this, I really don't want Brock to be the starter next year unless it's on our financial terms. I really think he's on the path to be the next Brian Griese or Matt Flynn. Let him cash in, in Houston and let it be their problem when he becomes the next Matt Flynn.

I'd feel pretty good with an RG3/high draft pick/Siemian combo going into next season, assuming we spend the extra cash improving the o-line

Not a Broncos fan, but got to chime in. This has to be one of the worst markets for a QB. There is little from the draft, and only busts on the market.

Donald Stephenson will be signing with the Broncos when the signing period opens tomorrow, per Pro Football Talk/Adam Schefter/Terez Paylor.

Other quick hits:

-The Eagles are reportedly the "likely" destination for UFA QB Chase Daniel (per Josina Anderson, ESPN)

-Chris Ivory will sign with the Jaguars tomorrow (per Adam Schefter/Ian Rapoport)

-Bruce Irvin will sign with the Raiders tomorrow (per Adam Schefter/Ian Rapoport)

This would describe RG3 also. Kaep at least has playoff/Super Bowl experience. RG3 is also way more injury prone.

It really is a crappy market for QB's. I guess we could always hope Detroit really blows it up and puts Stafford on the market or Atlanta out of the blue decides to part with Matty Ice.

Reports out that Brock and Broncos have had zero negotiation since the 3 year offer was put on the table.

To follow up on that, Pro Football Talk laid out what could be the reason for that:

It’s not known whether the offer from the Broncos was made in response to a demand from Osweiler’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, or whether the Broncos made the first move. The safer guess is that Osweiler stated an opening position, the Broncos responded, and now Denver is waiting to hear back from Sexton.
