White Sox sign IF Paul DeJong

Awful at plate but good with glove

Given how atrocious Anderson was with glove in recent years having a SS who can play that aspect is nice

Best case scenario the White Sox end up with a more power hitting Royce Clayton for year
Worst case scenario he sucks and we designate him for assignment

They're just clearing the deck, lowering payroll because they have no shot at anything. They have no actual plan for the future.

Does 2005 still happen without Jordan? Because if not, then you're right.
50/50. Let me ask you this: Without Jordan/Pippen and those 6 NBA Titles, would Reinsdorf have the urgency to win a World Series title for the White Sox?

Someone already said it, but he is, despite that. Nobody gives that clown credit for the Bulls' championships.
I get that but Reinsdorf has successfully hidden behind those 6 titles with the Bulls and 1 title with the White Sox, from scrutiny outside of the WS fanbase. Chicago media truly does suck.

A random win surrounded by decades of futility on either side of it isn't exactly a testament to Reinsdorf being a great owner. Congrats, in over 40 years his team won once, which is slightly worse off than just dumb 1-in-30 luck.

And I will never hold a person that threatened to move a team out of Chicago as a good owner.

Eugene Melnyk keeping the stadium 50 miles from downtown is pretty high up there. A's owner is a good shout by DHF. If he meant John Fisher.

Like I understand people are mad at Reinsdorf and if I cared about the Bulls or Sox I'd be hoping for a change in ownership but worst owner in pro sports? You guys are nuts.
Yeah, he's not the worst owner in sports. Ownership in towns like Pittsburgh and Oakland take that for sure. Probably Angelos in Baltimore too. And that's just baseball.

He might be the worst big city owner in sports or mlb? I definitely rate him worse than the McCaskey's, as bad as they've been. The difference here is - the McCaskey's have tried and failed. Often times Reinsdorf doesn't even try. I'm not coming up with a worse one in my head at the moment.

I just hope it doesn't get held against the fanbase when ownership change eventually comes. I'd hate to see an interest from outside Chicago buy them and move them.

For the record, I agree that he's not the worst owner. He didn't commit a heinous crime, didn't burn a city and relocate a team (merely threatened it, in his "defense"), and it's not like he let his stadiums turn into literal cesspools.

But if you were making a list of active owners and ranking them from best to worst, Reinsdorf would be much, much, much closer to the bottom than the top.
