All is right in the world

Also, in terms of college teams I hate, the trifecta is Michigan, Notre Dame, and North Carolina for me. Anyone but them in every year and every sport, albeit NC is mostly basketball-oriented.

Damn 2024 off to a bad start.

Cubs gave up a couple of minr leaguers (Ferris/Hope)for a sweeper heavy reliever. and a bat first 1b/dh (Almonte/Busch) from the Dodgers. So yeah.

Isn't Busch a top 50 prospect?

Seems like great deal for Cubs

Ferris was a highly touted guy who got paid as a 2nd rounder to get out of a college commitment and put up good A numbers as a 19 year old. I'm not nearly as knowledgeable when it comes to baseball prospects and that dynamic but Ferris is trending to be really good and has TOR stuff according to people who do that shit.

Actively root against Notre Dame, FSU and everyone in the SEC.
Cheer for UCF (Daughter is an alumni) Northern Illinois (wife is an alumni). DePaul (my mom was an alumni).
After that that its Northwestern (which has a story attached to it), followed by the rest of the big ten.

Hope is also an inexperienced pure tools guy who popped in his first taste of pro ball. Since he's going to the Dodgers, look for him to turn into a superstar now

I graduated from UCF too. As well as FSU.

I think Ferris ends up as a Jeffrey Springs type MOR pitcher with the upside of reaching Blake Snell. The Cubs have better arms in the system than Ferris. To me, not a huge loss. Cubs must love Busch to give up Ferris.

This trade confuses me a little. They won't give Mervis playing time but they'll willing to trade Ferris for a guy who was not going to play for the Dodgers? To me this means, Mervis and perhaps Morel are gone. (Yes, I do think the Cubs will still either re-sign Cody or sign Hoskins.)

They gave Mervis 100 ABs and he didnt get it done. Shows you what they think of him I guess.

Wonder where Morel goes.

And Busch was just as bad for the Dodgers in simliar at bats. It's a weird trade to me.

I don't want to trade Morel, mainly because DH's don't have much trade value.
