I'll believe it when I see it. The Cubs have talked a big game in the recent past about trying to get guys and oh, won't you know it? They just so happened to underbid each and every time. Almost like they wanted to give the mirage of trying versus actually trying.

Their efforts really begin and end with an admittedly good job in landing Suzuki.
And Swanson....

Extending Nico......extending Happ.....taking a chance on Belli.... Stro is just the best pitcher in chicago.... trading a washed Javy for a top 15 prospect in all of baseball.... throwing Mervis back in the minors where he belongs.... developing the second best pitcher in chicago.....

Vucevic for 3 years at ~$20mn per is actually an okay deal. Even with the new luxury tax structure in the NBA, it should be a tradeable contract. The Bulls won't get much, but still doable.

I just heard Bob Costas make the funny and true statement that anyone who says pre-Canseco players used PEDs just proves how dumb they are. Bonds averaged 25 dingers his first seven seasons, then suddenly hit 46.

ESPN with a massive round of layoffs today

Biggest names out today thus far

Steve Young
Suzy Kolber
Keyshawn Johnson
Jeff Van Gundy
Jalen Rose
Max Kellerman (I think he was last boxing guy ESPN had left and was a jack of all trades jackass for them mostly)

Young, Kolber and Van Gundy are shocking IMO and to lesser extent Johnson/Rose

Young is big loss for NFL Coverage

Meanwhile douche bags like Stephen A. Smith, Kendrik Perkins, Mark Jackson and others will remain and are safe

I honestly can't tell you the last time I paid remotely any attention to any ESPN commentary, barring folllowing folks like Scheffter and Woj for roster news and the like. Had to have been at least since high school a few centuries ago.

Agreed. I cannot think of the last time I watched sports center. Likely more than a decade.
Other than to view a specific hockey game that network is never in in my house.

VanVleet getting over $40 million per year is all kind of insane and is my new proof for how much money that the NBA had to burn over the NHL.

Good that an Illinoisan got paid, though.

Tim Anderson 0-5 with 4 Ks.

I don’t think people realize just how bad he’s been. His OPS is like .500. To go along with poor defense.

TA has had more to do with the Sox failures than some might think.

What really makes me sick is when the going got tough and the team needed him most he seemingly has just gotten worse and worse.

I think it's 100% off the field stuff. Dude has been exposed big time for his infedelities and fathering a child outside his marriage. He just hasn't been the same guy.
